Social Entropy

by JH Furnish ('The Alienist')

Days and nights are blurring

with the faces of the passers-by
Dates are less than numbers

blending as they barrel past
All my queries have received

Empty lines for no reply
My movement feels encumbered

through the fleeting time that's passed

I'm being disconnected

from my many fellow-travellers
Becoming isolated

in these desolated spaces
I remember things they've said

but I forget their names
My years are punctuated

with their sundry missing faces

It bears to testify

that I don't always disconnect
But as frequently as not

am he that's disconnected
I don't always understand

why others throw away our time
But I've learned that wasted time

is better redirected

How to redirect the time

that others have forsaken?
I must salvage anything

I learn from severed years
How to minimize the risk

of being disconnected?
There's no way to save your time

that's washed away in fear

I muse upon the shiny souls

who seem to make connection
Creating sundry circles

that may last throughout their time
I suppose it all depends

on luck and disposition
Meanwhile, what am I to do

to make the most of mine?

Time and Life
Time passes, but we are not 'always' disconected. My return to this site a few months ago found old connections and produced a few new ones.

A lot of things to ponder over in this piece and it opens your eyes to the connection between time and life.

I was actually wondering where you had got to when on Lit the other night, good to see your poetry again.....
