About two years ago my boyfriend gave me the nickname of SALT which is an abbreviation of endearing words.
Just a day ago they released the movie coincidentally named SALT, an action movie about a female secret agent of that last name. Depending on the pace of Hollywood's inception and production, I'd say the movie came about well after I got the nickname, which also has been used in the public domain in my blog. Maybe being the real SALT, I don't see the implications of this coincidence. Does it subtract from the value of my nickname, now that I might want to use it in semi-autobiographical works?

Good things wait for those who know what they are doing

Welcome to the forum. I just read your bio. I recall Teflon's bar-musings over at the writingforums..and of course here, going back to 2004.

By now, you've hopefully resolved any questions about your nickname.

things didn't quite resolve themselves, and just wallow in status quo. I guess there is no conflict going either way.

I wish I had time to check all of Teflon's musings. I wonder what he had to say. About me.

I searched for "SALT" on and found several members, one as VerucaSALT or something.

just curious
This SALT nickname given to you by a 'boyfriend ... is that person now your husband?

of Teflon and Tewtie
Teflon gave his wife the nickname SALT (Sweet Adorable Lovely Slut), more than six years ago. He also referenced the wife of a friend as being "SALT" 2005.

Questions for Bobby
Wow, I am floored.
So you are the expert on Sam! How do you know this? - I am not being cynical - do you know him in real life?
So you are the man to render judgement in my question - the nickname that he gave me then is not that original?
I googled it and never seen any signs of it anywhere - if publicized in 2005 - the way YOU know of it - is it considered to be... non-novel?

Who is this wife of a friend he called SALT?
What else do you know that I don't know?

Sam "Teflon" is so creative with nicknames I see - still amazed - at your depth of knowledge. Did he tell you in any way of the business trips with me?
Wait till my essay on him is approved. Still floored. Yummy.

not that original..
Of course, "slut" doesn't start with "T"..He called "Tewtie" (according to him, his fourth wife), SALT.

The wife of a friend's friend, was from his days as a "medical adjudicator."

Indeed, it's not that original.

more salt, please
He told me that SALT is "Sweet Adorable Little Tramp", - and soon after meeting my girlfriend the T also stood for Tori (who called me Tori instead of Victoria)
an old and extensively commented post ( the possibilities of deciphering the SALT, and also affords you to read some of more of what Sam had to say (in the comments)

Sam??? His name was/is Sam? I love the name Sam! arggghhhh!! Now you'll know why I asked. I wasn't going to assume it was Teflon.

BTW - Teflon's posts were scrubbed from the WF several years ago {I think it was 2003 or 2004} when he got himself banned for being .. um ... er ... inflammatory .. his comments may still be there but I'm not going to bother going to look for them ...

I will, however, validate Bobby's statement except for the 'slut' because I didn't read that part. I vividly remember his 'Tewtie' endearment because it reminded me of kewpie as in dolls. Funny how the mind works.

As to keeping the nickname? I think I'd dream up my own nickname rather than continually credit an old flame with limited scope. But, that's just me exercising my writer's prerogative. Of course, I prefer going by my real name which many friends [and some foes] have shortened to 'Pen' which I'm very fond of.

of variations...
and varied namesakes..

It would appear applications have been altered over the years.

bac sable
I found the writing forums and I think many his posts. In "Invading Her Diary" for example I see a lot of images and witticisms he liked to use with me (butterflies and pearls, brunettes)

I think he has burrowed a lot from my world, and because everything was mutual, we extend to each other the poetic license to burrow. I think :->

I keep reading his stuff there - what a loveable nut! I wish I had more time - I am hosting a staff party for my ex-employer and I can't believe the mixture of this real-cyber life.

of "Salt"/sort
..19th century London slang, referencing a woman as a sexual partner and/or as being loose.

It's been employed so long, and by so many, I wouldn't be concerned with its novelty.

Je m'apelle mignonne Lolita
well I am definitely not jealous of the movie, for sure :-) Thank you for your erudition.

He has given me LOLITA just in case - what an an acronym! - I know that nobody - nobody had ever been called that! Sammie the Teflon is so smart!
