Of gnosis and grit,
To command the seas with ships
And the heavens with rockets…

Our true wings are hidden
And realized in the act of falling

When I was young
and had much power
I tore the wings off the backs of angels,
and I
ripped the flesh from the bones of Infinity,
And when she screamed she
vomited forth keys to the sacred gates
and then stood
Naked and stripped and devoid of mystery,
And I felt the shame of guilt.
My shame was hot
and the keys melted through my fingers
A liquid fire.
And the angels,
Without their wings,
could not reforge them in Heaven’s furnace,
And all were left in despair
By Knowing the World,
I had destroyed it.

Yep, it was none other than Edgar Allan Poe who wrote in Libea, one of his finer short stories, that to really know the deep of soneone, someone must die. He never really specified who must die, though...
