When there is illness in the family
and the sun sends down no ray;

When your job may end tomorrow
and your livelihood's at bay;

When all the bills come due and you
don't know how you'll pay;

When the cupboard's getting empty
and your kids need food today;

Jesus is our shepherd and
He'll guide us the right way.

Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and
ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you:

Did you notice that God didn't say,
just sit back and take it easy,
I'll take care of you today.

He said to knock, He said to seek,
We have to work to get the pay.

If we ask Him, He'll open the door,
give us direction and guide the way.

I believe people need to be responsible to themselves (and those dependent on them...) before relying on help from elsewhere. Not saying help wouldn't be forthcoming but self-reliance is always the safer route.

Think your poem could use some fleshing out but I still enjoyed it.
