I love to analyze people,
to figure out why they do the things they do.
I watch them; I listen;
I wonder; I ponder;I think; and I guess.
I think most people are strange.
I think most people think I am strange.
Some people are smart,
some people think they are smart.
Some have learned a lot from books.
Some have learned a lot from life.
Few have what granny called horse sense.
i think that's the sense that tells us to stop and listen;
Listen to our Mom and Dad,
listen to our teachers,
listen to the preacher,
listen to our friends,
listen to our spouse,
listen to our children,
listen to the little voice inside of us
that tells us what's right and what's wrong.
If we kept our mouth shut and our ears open
once in a while
maybe we would all be smarter.
Maybe people wouldn't be so strange.

horse sense
One of my all time favorite quotes regarding books is from Anne Rice's novel, "The Witching Hour."

"...Give me a man or a woman who has read a thousand books and you give me an interesting companion. Give me a man or woman who has read perhaps two and you give me a dangerous enemy indeed."

To me knowledge comes from accepting one's individuality. Everyone knows something someone else doesn't so I guess that makes us all equals.

You give good poetic advice.

...horse sense
Thank you. I wish my advice could be as good as my grandmothers'. She lived on a mountain in SW Virginia her whole life. Oh, the stories she could tell. Growing up I spent 2 weeks with her every summer. I remember her saying so often,
"They ain't got the horse sense they were born with." So my perception of horse sense became that little voice that whispers to us when we're about to do something wrong.
