We parted, branded, bitter foes
With no tear shed that could tell of these woes;
When the mind has fought the heart
We knew it's better not to love and depart;

Yet no reason could this sorrow foretell
How from uncommon eye common tears bell,
And how earnest whispered jubilees
Remind us of a time that flees.

How seldom does that kiss entreat
To us, when lips entwined lose the seat
Of basic friendly greeting
And split all tide and rock with meeting.

Among the throng we seek to elate
That to us which was severed by fate,
Lonesome, and broken, we wander the shadows,
Detached-and teetered- too young by the gallows.

Parted
One of my favorites as well. An interesting look at the choice two people make to let a misguided love go. Or have I gone far afield? Perhaps it was not a mutual thing? Hmmm, a beautiful piece that give us much to think about.

Parted
jonpenny: Thank you!

HeRoCoMpLeX: I thought this was too general but you make two very valid perceptions; it is a combination of both.
