From the altars of the holy
stained in pagan lands
comes righteous indignation
o'er sins of the heathen man

Replace their golden idols
with steeples in their skies
let blood fill their rivers
color red their savage lies

For God is our protector
his sword upon our side
we shall show our mercy
when children try to hide

As wound about the thistle
exposed and beating red
the heart of a savage people
our wine and yes our bread

Inside out
Well written piece. I enjoy a contemporary voice to historical perspectives and this one is very cool - and who can deny the raw truth of it. I always wondered what the people of Canaan did to God to necessitate their outright slaughter - even their dogs had to die. I look forward to more.

Enjoyed the subtle irony of this one.
