Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

Educated to believe,
That I am where I’m from,
I’m a United States citizen,
I’m smart…… not dumb.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

A church going kid,
A God believing man,
My country killed millions,
One Hell of a land!

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

I grew up in a world,
Where money was king,
Buying things was natural,
Spending was the thing.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

I used to shop at Fred’s,
A store right down the street,
Now they call it Wall Mart,
Where everyone goes to meet.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

Then greed took over,
It became central to our lives,
Driven by power,
It drove our human drives.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

Startled to say the least,
A savior from the sky,
A sage….. a Black man,
A hell of a guy!

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

Proclaiming he had the answers,
To all that vexed,
However, it appears that he caved in,
To the military-industrial complex.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

But now that I am old,
And most of my friends have died,
I am so sick and tired,
Of how my country has lied!

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

Whitened hair in winter set,
Aging eyes to see,
Money doesn’t bring happiness,
It didn’t bring peace to me.

Home Sweet Home,
Land that I love,
Blessed by The Father,
In Heaven up above.

But now a step away,
From a Better World to Be,
The origin of my values,
Empowered by Thee.

Ready to take my leave,
From this land of pit and sorrow,
What about the gifts,
That I will receive tomorrow.

For having told this nation,
To take a flying leap,
I will follow my conscience,
Rather than kowtowing like sheep.

One last thing,
Before taking a final breath,
Young man, live a good life,
And you will have a “wonderful death.”

Sweet home
Lost in Babylon - the way of the world is the way of the world - in the world not of the world! I liked the snarkyness of this poem.
