Yesterday, by sheer coincidence, I discovered that registration was about to open for the 2010 Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop in April at the University of Dayton in Erma's (and my) hometown of Dayton, Ohio. It's billed as "The workshop for humor writing, human interest writing, networking and getting published."

What could I do? I signed up!

Now, I have NEVER attended a writers' workshop before in my life, and I haven't submitted writing for a print publication since I sent some lame anecdote off to Reader's Digest when I was a kid. (It was, of course, rejected.) However, I have been emboldened by my brief experience writing for Litdotorg's own Majestic newsletter, and with this golden opportunity so close at hand, I am, with no small degree of trepidation, pushing myself to the next level. I must be out of my freakin' mind.

I'm also passing along this information just in case any other Litdotorg writer/reader might be interested! See the link above for more info about the workshop. (Be advised: apparently this workshop sells out very quickly!)If you decide to attend, please comment here to let me know! Maybe we can make arrangements to meet In Real Life!

Oh, yeah - please go read December's Majestic too! (This month with twice as much LinnieRed, thanks to Karma Tsering Lhamo's EXPOSED! interview of yours truly!)

How's that for shameless self-promotion?

Shameless self-promotion! I LOVE IT!

LinnieRed's humor column in MAJESTIC is worth every second of reading, she has the gift of laughter, and her writing will leave you smiling every time;-)

If you want to know some shocking shameless EXPOSED things about LinnieRed, then yes, do read my interview with her this month.

LinnieRed is good at "exposing" herself;-)

Now@writers' workshop!
Now, all these months later, here I am! OMG, a bunch of people here are PROFESSIONAL writers! And there are a LOT of people here - a real challenge for an introvert like me.

I just attended a workshop on blogging, so I hope that will help and inspire me to do more with my Litdotorg blog, which Stuart so kindly made available to me. I also hope to get a Majestic column out of this.

Anybody else out there attend writers' workshops? Any tips re: how to get the most out of them?
