So I spent the day with my daughter in her class today. Like I told her I would. Tomorrow is my oldest daughter's day. We had fun. I showed a bunch of kids that learning is fun, and Dad's give a shit. Well some do anyways. lol
I walk home. On the way home is the local newspaper. I occurred to me to stop in and ask the Managing Editor if he'd read an essay I wrote and sent him a couple weeks ago.
He said he hadn't. That he'd been insanely busy etc. I kind of figured, being a Managing Editor, time is demanding and there's only twenty four of them. So I responded with a "No worries brother, but do check it out when you have the time."
We then got to shooting the shit about the online message boards they have. In which a fellow reader and I went at it for well over eight months. He was an asshole that liked to flame folks that left less than articulate comments.
As I stuck my earplugs back in to jam out to Coheed and Cambria on the rest of the walk home, he said,
"Hey man, you should stop by next week, we can tak eyour picture and get you a column.."
"You got the balls for that man? I mean they fired the last guy that tried to do that."
"uhm.. Yeah! I got the balls. Just come back next week man."
To which the rest of the office joined in "You know you work here you can't chew people out online, etc etc."
I thought about it and decided to do it anonymously. lol
Anyways, so I believe that was a small town offer to write editorials for the local newspaper.
One small step for the Paladin, one giant leap for the small town. lol

It's funny how life works sometimes, isn't? An innocent walk home turns into a great job opportunity. Remember, there is a lot of power in the written word. Wield that sword carefully.
