Curled up in the dark, lost in thought,
a worn statue in chiaroscuro;
seemingly alive, but feeling so empty,
everything a sparse, muffled dub of life,
and slowly departing footsteps, clicking,
then gone behind another door,
in silence.

Close your eyes, make a wish
to believe in something, anything,
but you can't, so there's nothing;
disconnected from everyone and everything,
an eerie listlessness, cold and low:
surrender to the vacuum of sleep.

An existential exercise to fall off to sleep? Very cool -

'and slowly departing footsteps, clicking,
then gone behind another door,
in silence.'

Loved the feel of this! Thanks!
