The questionable gift
of knowing
we are going to die,
makes me but wonder

Allegedly human
I cannot escape
the slippery slopeways-

Now, who's going to tame
the rough beast in me?

Could you imagine going through life not knowing your going to die? How much more fun would lives be. Decidedly shorter I think, but more fun. I like the way you called it a "questionable gift"
That speaks to me on a deep level. Its something I've thought about often. Does the knowing "shamelessly unmask" us?

You've outdone yourself in my opinion. Firefly told me that poetry was an individual expereience for each reader. For me, this was one in a million. I've already read it three times, and I get different feelings and thoughts everytime.

I'm not sure why this one really hit home for me but it did. Thank you so much for sharing!
