Hi Everyone!

I wanted to make a quick announcement to point out some changes to the front page. More changes are coming; however, my learning curve is steep, and they will happen slowly.

The first big change: The newsletter. It is now done through the magic of WordPress, and you can navigate to it directly by clicking the link titled “MAJESTIC – Our Monthly Newsletter.” The direct link is in the right side-bar under the heading “RESPOND.” It archives our newsletter permanently (something Beatrice Boyle suggested), and gives the entire membership constant access to it.

The second big change: We have staff blogs. At the bottom of the blue side-bar you will see a heading titled “Staff Blogs.” Right now, the following staff members have blogs up: Ócháni Lele (me), Karma Tsering, Sandra Yuen Mackay, Amanda K. Campbell, Linnie Red, Beckett Grey, and Steven Cherecwich. There will be a few more coming over the next couple of months. It’s a coding and time issue for me.

Please note: More is coming. Dead links will be revived as soon as I learn a bit more php and html, and an banner will be in the works. I’ll keep everyone posted as these changes happen!

Keep writing!
Ócháni Lele

Good work!

name corrections
Just a typo on Steven's name needs to be changed. And MacKay has a capital 'K'.

Guess what?
I'm so comfortable with that part of coding that I already made the changes.

Woohoo! I'm a techno-hack!

@ Lena
I'm so glad you like!

I REALLY want to announce the "big thing" I did (well, for me it's a big thing), because it will give members a chance to help support litdotorg and its mission.

But, I have to wait until Thursday to announce it.

I'm so excited! It's the little things!

Hi Everyone:

It’s Thursday, and since we got approval for this . . . and since the initial code is in place . . . I might as well share with everyone.

Some of you may not realize that litdotorg is an expensive website to run. I’m spending almost $200.00 a month on bandwidth costs to keep this place up and running. True, there are days we only have a handful of submissions, and there are days there are only a handful of comments; however, our page views keep climbing, as does our membership, and at any given time there are as many as 50 people reading through our stuff at any given hour. And, no, those are not the same 50 people time and time again. We have an active READING membership. I only wish those comments would climb so writers can see just how popular their pieces are becoming!

We’ve come a long way since I first came on board. There would be only the same 10 to 15 people using the service here, and we were hosted on a server that was free. It was trash, with slow response times, but it was free. We’ve grown a lot since last . . . what was it . . . November when I joined as just a member? And I think a lot of that is because basic services have improved.

Now – this is MY project, which I do to benefit the online writing community. I’m not asking for money. However, I do have a few things in the works that are “fundraising” attempts at keeping this site’s financial burden on me a bit lower, while providing me the freedom to keep expanding our services.

One of those things is being implemented now – our associate bookstores. If everyone will please look at the blue sidebar on the right, and look under the section titled “WRITE,” you will see two links that were dead when I came onboard as a member: Bookstore and Books on Writing. They now work, and we have Amazon associate stores in each one.

Soon, there will be a small Amazon widget on the front page so you can search for specific volumes, and buy what you want through Amazon.

Note: for each item you buy, a 4% kickback comes to the website.

As far as fundraising attempts go, I figured this would be a fantastic option. It doesn’t make the site look “commercial” (I want to keep the massive advertisements found on other sites off this page), and it provides members a way to support litdotorg by buying merchandise directly through our website.

Most writers read, and they read a lot. Most readers buy a lot of books (I know I do!). And most book buyers on the net buy from Amazon already.

So, if you read, and if you buy books from Amazon, won’t you please consider buying them through our associate bookstore and account? You’ll support something we all love – litdotorg!

And, I’ll be free to keep upgrading our services!

Holy cannoli! Cool;-)

Even better
I have the stores set up so the member's private wish lists show up when they are logged in to Amazon.

I think I did well.

working on my list, so hard to pick my favorites, I have so many, but the store link is brilliant idea, and I DO use so much, might as well link it through here to keep this awesome site going.

By the way, NEW exposed interview coming up in next issue soon, by one who volunteered to be interviewed, next time around I am picking who will be interviewed, so far on my LIST is JonPenny, Bobby7L, LinnieRed, Gale, and quite few others I have in mind to request an interview on EXPOSED, since Beckett Grey and Miss B. have already been exposed, I want our regulars and our best to have the honor too.

It has been fun, this whole site and all the many changes you have done to it and keep improving on it, and the more to come are just wonderful, again, thank you Stuart....

With ALL love,

Lit Dot Bloomings
Staff blogs to read, a bookstore just to my right, and links shall rise up from the dead to breathe new life. Hallelujah! The desert blooms! Amen.

And if you think all that's good . . .
You need to read this month's issue of Majestic. I'm in the planning stages for the litdotorg literary magazine that I want to begin in 2010 -- hopefully JANUARY.

If anyone wants more information (details are scant, but all will be revealed in the September Majestic, read my "From the Editor's Desk."

And while you're at it -- read the entire newsletter. Bit-by-bit, we're growing and getting better.

Redundant Karma...and so it goes;-)

How can we also have the columnists and writers for Lit.Org's monthly Majestic newsletter, have those same categories posted here on FRONT page with the format being the same or close to the same, you know the darker title letters, etc.--I am a tech and html, etc.-nubetard-numb-nuts.

I do think more people would be interest and exposed to LinnieRed's great Lyrics column as well as all the other columnists, and the many nominated writers of Lit.Org in Majestic this month... plus the ongoing Exposed interviews? Is it possible to do it or are you going to keep it all just to the Majestic newsletter link (right hand column front page)?

I think JonPenny, Beckett Grey, Sandra, LinnieRed, Apple and all the others featured in Majestic this month all deserve a big A+ for such great work;-)

And you deserve a big thanks for pulling this all together and becoming a tech savvy maverick in your own right, which has benefited Lit.Org greatly;-)
