(I said a while back I was going to revise this poem ruthlessly grrr, so I did)

In the beginning

my master taught me
fear leads to hate
hate to violence

Then

he slapped me
challenged me to think
about the damage
fear has done

Now

wish me harm
I'll wish you joy
because I should

Tomorrow

Iíll ask my master why
and heíll reply
I donít know

------
In five hundred years time, most of us will be forgotten dust. But Hitler will still be remembered, God loves irony.

Zen
Terrific poem. It reminded me of the Castaneda scene where Don Juan slaps him hard on the shoulder forcing him into another reality. So it is that to see the truth we must lift the veil of agreed upon reality -
Thanks good read.

ZEN-Congratulations Ogg...
Your poem is simple, effective, leaves questions without distinct answers, yet the puzzle, meaning, solution or more questions is left to the inner mind (Buddha nature/road to enlightenment out of the samsara of the state of ignorance) of the reader, of course how could it be more on target of the essence of "Then there was Zen"...Yes, very ZEN indeed, besides ALSO being the chosen winner of the Majestic Newsletter's winner for February 09;-)

Namaste,

Oh Blimey!!!
Oh ma Gawd, I just glanced to the right of my screen and saw the Majestic newsletter icon!! Talk about embarrassing, erm sorry to all the magnificent people that run it and how do I access it? I've tried to look at the latest copy and failed miserably.
I'll now run red-faced to the naughty corner of my cave and sit there for at least three hours as punishment.
take care
Paul

Want You To Hit Me AS Hard As You Can
Doesn't get much more groovy than that, brother. I love it. Glad I paged through and found this one. You may have just snapped me out of my writer's block. Wait... nope, still can't think of anything.
