"My face is changing." I told my Godbrother as I traced the lines down my cheekbone. "They're becoming more defined." My ancestral traits are coming through. Looking down I see my grandmother's hands attached to her thick wrists. I have her legs as well, thick and solid. I try to piece together where all the traits came from but names and dates turn to fuzzy faceless memories. The older I get the more of them I see in me. Photobucket

A lot of horse objects have been coming into my possession as of late. It can only mean one thing. It's time to work with horse totems.
Travel, Power, Freedom

Horses are symbols of freedom.
This totem brings new journeys.
It will teach you to ride in new directions and discover your own freedom and power.
Guide to overcoming obstacles.

The Horse is the symbol of Wind.

Horse people are usually friendly and adventurous.

If a horse has shown up in your life, you must ask yourself:
"Am I feeling constricted? Do you need to move on or allow others to move on?"

Horse will teach you how to ride into new directions to awaken
and discover your own freedom and power.

"In my writing I am acting as a map maker, an explorer of psychic areas, a cosmonaut of inner space, and I see no point in exploring areas that have already been thoroughly surveyed."
William S. Burroughs

KatHarlander, Totem Wind Horse...
Freedom writer's horse...heard that one just recently;-) LOVE your blogs/columns, always so full of life, vibrant, and beautiful to read and experience. Keep using that html, ya hear;-)

My totem is the owl, also have affinity with the larger species of Crows, and them dar Ravens, but mostly, without a doubt the OWL is my totem animal, my familiar to this day though is the cat, yes, back from my witchy days, got 3 of them, all protectors;-)

But, yes, I hear the horse calling me too...sending me in new directions these days, wondrous directions, keep following your spirit and instincts of soul...

@ Lena
I definitely see the owl in you.

My totem is the wolf but I also work with snake, hawk, and now horse. For a long time swan kept coming up but those days are over. Right now I'm really enjoying working with the horse energy around me.

Let that horse make you free.

re: totem

It's been said that one's true culture is what one loves and cherishes, and I happen to agree with that. Even further, it's been said by shamans, magicians, and other strangefolk that one's true aspects- cultural, ancestral, totemic, archetypal- will, if one explores them deeply enough and identifies with them strongly enough, eventually manifest physically.

I happen to think this is the case, and I think it would be much more obvious if we weren't bounded by our own sense of time. Change of that sort seems to come slowly, over a period of years, and is hard to recognize without taking a giant step back and looking at the overall picture.

Good on you for spotting it. You've got a leg up on most people, who seem to blunder about without any idea who they are or what they want.
