The following comments are for "War is Hell!" by Beatrice Boyle
In 17 syllables, you reveal the entire paradox behind absolutely every war ever fought.

This is Peace????
Stuart...why is it that over thousands of years we have evolved so much that we can put a man on the moon, microwaves prepare a meal in seconds, Cars and aeroplanes move people from one place to the other...but waging war hasn't changed a bit other than the weapons used! We STILL kill each other over territory!
William T. Sherman a famous Cival War general of the states said, " WAR IS ALL HELL ". As he saber slashed his way from Atlanta to Savannah.

I've heard it said before that our technology has outstripped our humanity; and the more I see as time goes by, the more I believe it to be true.

Slaughter in the name of peace!
Joseph...Sherman is a perfect example of ruthless savagery in waging war...in the name of peace!
He pilaged his way through Georgia, burning the homes of helpless women and children who certainly were not a threat to him!
Later on in life, he was asked to serve in politics and issued the famous line:"I will not run...and if elected...I will not serve." This was repeated by Lyndon Johnson after his first term in office.
Both were affected by warfare (after the fact) and had had enough!! Yes indeed...War IS hell!
John...Compassion is what seperates man from beast...without it, we are ALL animals!
A smile...a hug, or just a simple "how are you" works wonders in human relations. Just visit a nursing home someday and see the reaction you get from a poor lonely soul, aching for human connection. There is no better medicine than this! I have a poem in the archives about this...will post it soon.
"Collateral damage is an unfortunate and oftentimes unavoidable aspect of war"...
If only Hamas would stop sacrificing their own people and playing/manipulating the press at the cost of their own children's lives, eh?
...then the war would stop. It takes two. It takes two to make a peace agreement, so far, Hamas has broken every promise they have ever made with Israel to stop the attacks against Israel. Israel has the right to exist in peace, or so they expect. It is too bad that peace talks do not work with the terrorists of Hamas...otherwise the war would be over.
It breaks my heart to see children die, but in the culture of some Palestinians, death means nothing even of their own children...it is more important to them to exterminate the Jews, that is the ultimate objective. That is extremism for you, in the name of G-d. Seems irrational, but to the believers of such things, it is the ONLY way.
Very sad situation overall.
War is hell..yes, it is, Bea, but Israel is not some cruel monster doing this just for fun, there are reasons, and they have endured and been patient beyond what any other country would put up with...
I have compassion for the ignorance in all of this, the ignorance of the Islamic extremists, and the ignorance of all those who are caught up in the concept that the physical world is so gosh darn important we must defend our territory at all costs...
I say, give it up...walk away, let the Islam extremists have Israel, for the Islamic extremists will NEVER allow Israel to exist in peace, NEVER. So, find another home Jews, eh? Isn't that what the Jews are supposed to do, go elswhere....I mean, they have been wondering for thousands of years, so what's another move, eh?
And, recently an orthodox Jew on this site made a comment that is so true to Orthodox Jewish beliefs... that if the Jews, all Jews, stuck to their religious principles, kept kosher, did thier prayers, lived the commandments PERFECTLY and obeyed G-d completely, then none of this would be occurring...this is all the Jews fault on a spiritual level, because they cannot be perfect, so G-d is punishing them by allowing the insanity of Hamas torment them forever.
Now, the Zionist see it differently, but either way, I feel compassion for all involved in this insanity and beliefs and the hate and killing that comes as a result of all this dogma and ideal-isms....
I know you and I are of different faiths, but I would like to present a similar, but vastly different, point of view if I may.
I don't believe G-d gets fed up at all. Far from it. In my mind, G-d, no matter what faith one speaks of, is an infinitely loving force that creates for the sake of creating.
Much like artists and writers!
However, creation has rules inherent that we, in our limited minds, cannot understand. Once physics was a simple study (like, back in the dark ages!) but as our knowledge base and technology grows, the science becomes deeper and filled with smaller, more technical branches. The more we learn about natural "law," the more we realize we have barely scratched the surface.
In the Lucumi faith, we have a saying: If you don't learn how the laws by which you live in this world, you will have to learn them in the next." Basically, it means that when a natural law is broken, we risk our own demise.
Unfortunately, as it's been said many times, our technology has outstripped our humanity . . . and our own understanding of the natural laws by which we live.
Yes, as you stated, ". . . we're due for another correction soon . . ." but I don't think this is a punishment from G-d at all. I think, simply, we broke laws we have yet to understand in full, and at its basic core, science teaches us that every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction.
Duck! Because that pendulum is swinging back our way.
G-d have mercy on our souls!

Dodging the pendulum!
Stuart...let's hope we're both wrong...I'm not as nimble as I used to be!lol
