The Almost Uptown Poetry Cartel is back in Midtown Harrisburg, where it all began. Our inaugural reading in the Reel Cafe, January 8, will feature award-winning poet Heather Thomas.
Heather Thomas is an award-winning poet and a professor of English at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She is the author of seven books of poetry, including Blue Ruby (FootHills Publishing, 2008). Resurrection Papers (Chax Press, 2003) was translated into a bilingual edition and published in Argentina.
Her poems appear in anthologies including Common Wealth: Contemporary Poets on Pennsylvania and in more than 30 print and online journals including American Letters and Commentary, Chain, 13th Moon, and mid)rib. Associate poetry editor for the online magazine 5Trope. She has awards from the Academy of American Poets, the Gertrude Stein Awards in Innovative American Poetry, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. An active performer, Thomas has given readings in Ireland, Russia, and Argentina, as well as throughout the U.S.
