Itís winter in the Southwest
Palm trees sway without zest
Shoppers browse amid unrest
Bank accounts are low at best

In one church hall are plates of steaming hot food
Dinner is served for free which brightens the mood
Many with appetites wait patiently and queued
Others who work behind the scenes arenít subdued

The shared fellowship of corporate work
Enlivens these servants of Ascensionís Kirk
Thereís humor and fun and no time to shirk
Who can sit still? One might go berserk

My church is filled with the sounds of the brethren
From pianos, flutes, fiddles, organs and accordion
My church is filled with scents of the season
Weíre spreading good cheer and our news is the reason

Not so Merry Christmas
Hi Sephanie...I just returned from our church's Christmas concert, where we asked the congregation to bring food for the food pantry and clothes for the homeless.

We do this, not only at Christmas, but all year long...but we usually get our best response at this time. This year is especially important, as there are over a thousand new jobless families on the food pantry list...people...some of whom were volunteers themselves just a short time ago.

Let us pray, that there is an end in site, with the new president in charge.

Have a blessed Christmas.

Bea
