there was tear gas like a green cloud
no inhale, exhale of a city
war is in the streets, war is in us
inhale exhale
war is in you
each cry of battle is a cry from the heart
and each cry under sanction is a dollar sign
freedom isn't free
they say
freedom isn't free

the river styx is in front of you
under your tongue there is no coin

someday could be today...

how very f*cking true... found most compelling about this that the inhale exhale mechanics of living punctuate the shitty, messy being of being [or not] alive… breathing is simple, ‘cause air is free, everything from respiration onwards is a torn-apart, blown-apart conflicted hate parade…

responded to this on an intuitive level, for reasons of my own, and in the last couplet I hear my own thoughts echoed: the last insult, being unable to die how you want, after being denied the right to live as you choose…

no kind of freedom, even the infinite kind, isn’t free. thank you for the well-penned, though numbing totality of this. glad to read you again.
