IT IS THE EATING, NOT THE TREE*
****************************

Ad'aam: you sinful tortured foal,
if only you can remember,
but "if" ** I shall say -use, no more.
Trees of mercy laid of wonder
they stood 'round you bows low yet tall,
fruits of love hung 'bove your hunger
for you and Eve to feed your souls.
Eve, had no hair, legs or gender,
you, had no mouth, stomach or balls.

Two pure spirits, of love created,
in perfection, by attention
became so sadly conceited.
Now that you have had to mention,
true, a tree, just one I pointed.
Yet, curious, you had a question:
Why should this tree be neglected?

Eat from this tree you're doomed to die.
Not the tree, it is the eating
a fruit of mud. Now you ask: why
not soul and body have a meeting?
Your mind tells they must so you try.
And now what comes out of cheating?
:To earth you return, down you lie.

not the tree
a structurally tight, well put-together rendering of one of the oldest most symbolically potent stories ever told… relayed here with clarity and an almost Blakian language… nicely done.

Creation creativism

This brought many images and metaphor to mind, concerning the story of Adam and Eve, and the Matrix Neo, the many Neos as there were the many Adams and Eves before the final copies, imperfections out, yet given a little too much knowledge and free will they went into making all kind of self-destructive wrong choices, yet, had it not happened, what would we be but Orangutans living in simple bliss eating bananas or what? I always considered the story going back as a complete rip off of the Sumerian text stories that predated the Judaic versions, yeah, and the story of the Annunaki and Enlil and Enki and the Goddess Inanna, etc.---you took me into my realm, which is religion, mythology and the involvement of those beliefs and intermingling, and symbolic meanings behind it all...this kind of stuff gets me going. Like Shannon said, though, tight, and told in a unique, interesting way, as if for the first time, not sure of where you take it in your own mind...

I like the concept of existence before we became slaves to these bodies and tortured for our curiosity..I prefer the pre body pure energy state, just posted a poem about it, old poem, dealing with quantum and M-theory of course my favorite obsessions for explaining all I have known or question. Death is temporary, physically that is...I don't believe in the death of the soul/pure energy that is our source and from which we all come from, the same collective consciousness of G-d, or in Tibetan Buddhism, called the place of luminosity and bliss...that sounds pretty cool to me.

Anyway, I like this poem, lyrics and poems very little difference to me it is all poetry, and you have a gift for both, this can be put to song as well...and I can hear this sung like a folk song, a la, Joan Baez or Dylan, yeah, love folk music. It can be very operatic at times, depending on the style of the singer, or it can be simply, but always touches the soul, like your work does, in it's purity and open honesty, which is what I like about it.

Blessings to you and yours,
Namaste!

The Matrix Neo
Thanks a lot Lena for your nice words

Apologies for delayed response ... as I was dealing with a combo of problems blended with personal tragedy ... long ailment ... with a sad ending …

Anyway … I am still trying to get back on my feet …

The thing is Lena …

Yes … had it not happened … we would be but Orangutans living in simple bliss eating bananas … and other fruits but the fruit of knowledge … and the quest for knowledge is haunting … knowledge itself … daunting … you go almost a full circle … only to realize that you wanted to end up near where you started … with simple life with few worries … no big causes … just the simple existence …

Neo … every time I see that movie … I notice how he narrowly escapes death over and over … and wonder … how many Neos have to die … before realizing a far-fetched vision … meanwhile … many simple soldiers … and behind the scenes their families … wives and children suffer … does it really have to be like that … do humans really define their lives in terms of an eternal conflict and suffering ...

But I am glad you like it and that you think it is singing material … one day … maybe one day I will put it to music … such little time :)

Thank you so much Lena … you and your writings are inspirational to say the least …
