Ride a dead horse.
The scenery changes
only with the seasons;
as nature reclaims her own.

Ride an equine corpse
galloping to nowhere.
Saddled up and stinking,
deriding riders riding by.

Ride a lively horde
of maggots feasting
on a corrupted
cage of bone.

Ride a dead horse
and nothing changes
except for worse.
Bottom- feeders multiply.

Ride an equine corpse
in a clever maze
on a mount with no need
for field corn or praise.

Whinnying and braying,
motionlessly ride
into the sunset.
Saddle- sore, no sidekick, ride alone.

Tilting at windmills,
growing never closer,
familiar destination
never ceases to amaze.

- Ralph 'Where's Waldo' Emerson

I hope you'll forgive my paraphrasing your title.

Happy to read you again
Always admired your work, Soos. Great to read your stuff again, which fascinates at every level, every layer, whatever one might read in.

Why Settle For a V-8?
I could have had a V9.

No Soos
. . . no one can have me. I am a stallion, wild and free, unbounded by the dreadful desires of humankind.

Yeah. I like the sound of that . . .

It sounds wonderful. I wish I had some inspirational words. Unlike the "seldom is heard", much more often is heard, a .. verse best left alone, as I'm led by the "bridal".
