A daughter of darkness or dog of war,
Thought is what life is for.
Revolver or knife,
Dissolvers of life,
It has all happened before.

Tending the herds, flocks and the straw,
Thought is what life is for.
Hand on the plough,
Sweat on the brow,
It has all happened before.

Nations starving, bodily poor,
Thought is what life is for.
Rich and wealthy,
Still not healthy,
It has all happened before.

City finances up naught point four,
Thought is what life is for.
Bulls and Bears,
Who bloody cares?
It has all happened before.

Visions of life’s future store,
Thought is what life is for.
Future is history,
Now is philosophy,
It has all happened before.

Earth provides our futures chore,
Thought is what life is for.
Know your responsibility
To the heavenly community,
It has all happened before.

and it'll happen again
(more’s the pity) uncanny, but I was writing a short story which contained a musing on a similar theme, the cycles the human heart and the human life become trapped in, self-perpetuating systems of thought and action, the same violence, the same struggle, the same sickness, the same poverty... the same greed...

it occurs to me that last is at the room of most of the others, overcome that and we're a more enlightened species...

well put, though-provoking poem. thanks for sharing.

Guy & Gal
Guy and Gal, hey I appreciate you comments and excuse my reference to my titling you both. Probably due some reaction to the Gal phrase as it is more Americana than Irish. I also read your interesting works, though, be new to this environment, I’m not sure I have commented in the correct receptacle. You are obviously familiar to greater works than mine and you flatter me with reference to such. I am but a humble boy putting words on paper. The young Gal, referred to as Auld Misery Guts, being quiet observant to life’s experience according to her work and well admired amongst the community. Bare with me while I gain my footing, I am new to such surroundings, but enjoy the trade in text.

Guy & Guy
Forsooth, the Gal is a Guy, I am informed!
God, will I hear the end of this?
My size twelve’s have jumped before walking with recognised friends.
I hope a Guinness would calm any wrath or am I mistaken there also?

In my place
I have been put in my place once again. This does warn, inform, remind and alarm all at the same time. Good piece of 'life' poetry.
