He hit me
and it felt like a kiss...

He hit me
and I doubled over with love...

He kissed me
and I knew I was his...

He kissed me
and I knew I could never tell anybody...

I waited until I wasn't free.
I wanted it all to be abuse.
I waited it until it wasn't me.
I gave up on living
so he could live for me.

He kissed me

and it felt like a hit.

------
someday could be today...

too true
have expressed similar sentiments at one time or another, although never as succinctly as this. captures well how the identity of the abused disappears in to the abuser, and how, in the end, that becomes the only form of attention abused craves or understands… acts of “kindness” hurt worse for being so infrequent, and because after a while you cease believing you deserve them…

you manage to convey so much with so few words. chilling and sad and absolutely spot-on. thanks for this.

kissed
i've been listening to the Crystal's song "He Hit Me (it felt like a kiss)" on a loop for several days. that song sends chills down my spine and makes me nauseated. example: "because if he didn't care about me/ i could have never made him mad/ he hit me/ and i was glad". but i can't stop listening to it.
