Who could have dreamed
You were what you seemed
A little boys heart
In a young mans blue jeans
You traded that blue
For a new suit of green
A kitten with teeth
We could have done better

Flying over the sea
With a picture of me
My kiss on your lips
My tears on your cheek
With what you had said
Versus what I believed
And all in between
We could have done better

It was a question of trust
Of ashes and dust
Of like and of love
Of love and of lust
But it all boiled down
To a question of us
We crumbled like rust
And we could have done better

In that far off land
Alone in the sand
If my photo slips
To the ground from your hand
Its all I expect
I do understand
Weve always been damned
We could have done better
