The urge to write is like a binge to me
A binge for food, booze and shopping for second-hand clothes
The urge to write is like a hunger in me
A hunger for love, connection and insight
The urge to write is like a desert to me
An arid place, an empty place, a valley of sand in the heart
The urge to write is like a kind of grief
A grief from age, boredom, a kind of inner death
The urge to write is like indigestion
A pain of heaviness and of being over-full---in need of a purge
The urge to write is like an allergy
An allergy under my skin, between my ears, and at the tip of my pen

to write is like a desert
Ah, but deserts ARE full of life. And the best kind because it adapts.

This sprite poem read like an excercise to regain lost muse. Nothing lost about the inspiration behind the poem though. It is as full of life as the aforementioned desert.

Good to read something "uninspired" and written with heart.

The Need to Write
I've always wondered how writing is always wonderful to me no matter what range of emotions it evokes. I wish that real life were the same way!

The Right to Write
Hi Stephanie

I am sure as an English teacher you passed on those privileges too....

Have to be carefull though... writing can be fattening too much time on the old backside...
