She sits serene in sunlit splendour
Legs drawn close and barefoot.
Clear skinned, beautiful,
Young and innocent, fresh as morning dew
Yet sadness touches her dark eyes.

The breeze through leaves, birdsong in the air
In the garden, delight is everywhere.
In sight and sound, smell and touch
Through an open window, a piano casts
Perfect harmonies with nature’s sounds.

The garden’s loveliness greater than its parts
Sunlight, the music, and her dark haired, dark eyed
Presence enhancing, emphasizing.
This serene and peaceful moment.
Cassiopeia beautiful and vain.

See her gazing to the distance,
Far beyond the beauty of this place
Her thoughts her own, her beauty all the world’s
What does she see outside this
World of quiet perfection?

Lovely Cassiopeia turns, a stirring in the garden
Sees her friend and light spreads through her face
Her smile so radiant, her thoughts take second place
She stands to greet him, they take each other’s hands
Kiss cheeks in greeting.

Within his heart, her smile works magic, healing hurt,
Reviving, energising. He feels his heartbeat…or hers as they embrace
They stroll together hand in hand
Breezes ruffle their hair.
Her light skirt waves and floats.

Was this planned, this meeting? Is it chance?
Though longed for, she had no thought that on this day,
This man would be with her.
And yet, this joy she feels is greater for being unexpected
And greater still in this place, beautiful, serene.

Yet still within her breast her heart aches
‘’I feel the despair of all the world my friend’ she tells him
“Can you heal me, Sebastian?”
“Can your words, your comfort, take my pain?”

“Only you can heal yourself” is his reply,
We live alone, within and with the world
But hold me now, my strength will flow to you
Those we trust and love
Can touch our hearts and soothe our pain.
But restoration comes from in ourselves.
Though those we love can tend our needs, it is within
That wholeness can begin.
Take from me, my Cassiopeia as you need.
I offer all I have.

You swept me away
Lord!!! you are SO romantic!!! Felt like floating reading this. Much of your writing does that to me. I bet your girl/boy friend is just...umm...breathless with the passionate romantic gestures a man like you surely gives.

I could close my eyes and imagine you sitting in the darkness under the stars, (Cassiopeia), and reciting this love poem looking straight up with sparkling eyes....

You have a very lovely poetic spirit

Oh, so very lovely indeed!
