Up! Up! my friend and quit your books;
Or surely you'll court trouble:
Up! Up! my friend and clear your books;
Tuition fees have doubled!

This 'New Labour government' is intent it would seem, on driving further into debt, a significant number of those who wish to pursue and develop their educational aspirations through one or other university here in Britain.

currently in the process of applying to do my MA... unless I can get partial scholarship there's no way I can afford it... short of selling a kidney, that is... keeping fingers crossed but none too hopeful...

thanks for allowing a wry laugh at the situation. smart stuff as always.

Shannon, thank you, and what a coincidence!

I too, recently applied for a Masters (Social Science) grant with the Open University (given I'd graduated with them). Unfortunately, I was unsuccessful this time, despite having two excellent academic references (both Doctors of Philosophy). Apparently, there was an over subscription of grant applications generally. Guess I'll have to find something else to do for the next three years. The very best of luck indeed with your application.
