At the end of the day
when I look back and see
my knowledge and insight
rusting with ageing colleagues
I pity my age and wish
to give up; I can't change
the means and the ends frustrate
the will to work any more

I want to rest now burying
ambitions and achivements
that ache the soul and make
empty sounds in the hollow
of a hallowed pond long doomed
for marrying self-indulgent
elites and idiots
sucking generations

Good-bye to you
leaches indeed! If this is the turmoil that these "leaches" cause you then....."get the hell outa here!" Know what I mean. Better off without than to give and give and give just to have to give again

Don't let these others bring you down. Just remember your generousity speaks volumes about you character.

Wow, RK! Nothing like your other poems. Not the ones I've read anyway.

This one is futility defined and catalogued. Something for future generations to read and learn from.

But there is also hope in your words. That is the greatest commodity.

Wonderful and honest.

corruption
Hi Tammyhendrix: Sometimes I do think like you but what to do? Relocating myself at this age and time appears so difficult. Sometimes I think I would be recognised for what I have already done, but in a corrupt political democracy, honest and straightforward people are the first to suffer most. I remain restive and negotiate the "leeches" that suck the blood of academics under one or the other pretexts. And, the more one is sensitive, the more one is destined to suffer.

And, thanks desvelado, for taking note of the positive in my depression. Yea, I have still not lost my hopes.
