As I near re-entry to my world each morning
I am eased into awake with-in your arms.
Still drifting 'tween the vales of dreams and waking,
elusive yet are details and alarms-

The sleep falls from my eyes with your body next to mine-
Rousing, I'm receptive. You're my rhythm, you're my rhyme.
The new day waits to penetrate it's orders in my head.
For just these precious moments there is nothing but this bed.

The clock too soon blares it's rude announcement.
No longer can we hope to stave off day-
and so I'll take the comfort of my waking
and let your love sustain me on my way...

I hold the thought of you in quiet content
as I slay my daily dragons, fight my fight-
I know when all is said and all is cared for,
I'll surrender in your arms again, tonight-

Comfort ... revisited
I came by here to read this to my boyfriend, who seems to be reminded that "wooing" has benefits.
I saw I never thanked any of you nice people for stopping by my poem.
I thought the poem was very sweet; imagined how I'd really like to feel about the man in my bed... Sometimes I am "caught 'tween dreams and waking" and that's very good; my guy's got a good heart - among other satisfactory parts ;)
I am glad for those who know exactly what it is to be in the words of this thought of mine. Lucie, you spring to mind-

Des, you got it spot on. Even the dragons. How much dichotemy exists between slaying a great mythological beast and laying comfortably in/on eygptian cotton with the one who makes your heart skip beats-
Lucie, glad you picked up on the eroticism that was intended (apparently so was alliteration ~) receptive, rousing, rythem, re-entry, penetrating... I thought it was a little too obvious. _ I kind of wanted to go for the smolder, and not the fire, ya know?

Anyway, much belated thanks.

hope you are all well-
blessings- E
