Yep, the mainstream media loves HOT TABOO subjects to harp on and focus on and go on and on and on and on and on and on about....yep, it gets everybody going.....so dirty, so bad, SO WRONG. So fucking exploiting and great source of higher so called "news shows" ratings.
I don't know about you, but polygamy makes me hot! (the consenting adult variety) Ah, come on, admit it...secretly it makes most people (most men maybe?) hot with the thought of all those dirty old men having the choice of a hot new and different wife to bed each night...eh? The fantasy is fantastic...the naughtiness of it all! But I especially like the idea of polyandry much better than polygamy.... polyandry that's hot too, way hotter when it's about just one wife and several husbands! Yeah!
And then there is the thought of two men going at it, gay hot male sex, that turns me on too. I think it secretly turns on a lot of people who would never admit it, but since I don't give a fuck, I admit it. Get used to it. Oh, and let's not forget dirty secrets of powerful men (in high political jobs) who have secret sinful adulterous sex lives with female and male prostitutes....oh, that's really naughty, forbidden, and oh so titillating!
Yet, I am personally disgusted once again by the media and all the nothing of pure distraction it has to offer the average -GUN HOLDING RELIGIOUS BLUE COLLAR WORKERS WHO ARE (truly & justly) "BITTER" ABOUT LOSING THEIR JOBS AND BEING LIED TO AND FUCKED OUT OF THEIR COMFORTABLE AMERICAN DREAM LIFE BY ALL THE LIARS IN AMERICAN POLITICS, CORPORATE AMERICA and the AMERICAN MEDIA!
MOST NEWS MEDIA (on cable TV) like politicians in Washington and in Texas, etc., offer only distractions, lots of lies, no depth, double speak, nonsense speak, slogan speak, and offers no solutions, no real facts, no real anything, and more of more nothing, but boy oh boy can it get TITILATING and boy do those cable news shows ratings sore as does all the attentions given to the politicians vomiting their same old shit on the news over and over and over again!
While the FOX NEWS assholes (you got a better name for the bunch of them? CNN too!) go on and on about how awful it is that Barack Obama tells it like it really is...and the media and politicians, and "decent folk" of America just can't have any of that kind of talk, that kind of "truth", oh no, real truth has no place in America anymore, not in politics, not in the media, and not in the minds of the righteous God fearing all American right wing voter (left wing idiots too, idiocy is rampant these days, I am not on either side with any of them)...
These days there is only spin, and more spin and desire for higher cable news ratings...there is only manipulation, lies, and more lies, half-truths, half-facts, twisted facts, spin facts, and lots and lots of distraction and titillation! I grew up on Walter Cronkite as a kid, teenager, young adult, and I just don't remember his news reporting being anything like what it has become today...besides, he wasn't a young blond hot bimbo newscaster either, which seems to be today's norm or what some dare call a "news-person"- haha!
The end of all clear cut straight forward truth is over. Barack Obama will not be an electable Democratic candidate for the presidency because he speaks the truth. Real truth. Real truth is no longer politically correct in America.
Real truth is too painful for some of your average white American/displaced worker/ consumer, viewer, voter, who is ignorant not always by choice and now bitter for having to work at Walmart for slave wages, (cause all his good paying manufacturing jobs are no longer in America) and his Walmart (& other jobs like it) has no health care, no benefits, no overtime, and not enough in the paycheck to be able to meet the mortgage payments anymore, because the American/displaced worker (the blue collar backbone of old time America) has been sold out by Corporate America in exchange for slave workers in third world countries that don't demand things like livable wages, health benefits, and a decent American dream way of life!
But the politically correct term for what has happened is now called: A Global Economy.
Yeah. We now have the global economy right as consumers to have our children poisoned by China's toy manufacturing ever since Mattel Corp. sent all their work over there for the Chinese underpaid workers to handle. Now we can all still have cheap Barbie dolls, just make sure your child doesn't play with the lead based Barbie for too long, or before you know it, you've got a real Barbie kid on your hands, yep, a lead poisoned brain-damaged bimbo. Thank you Mattel Toys for taking jobs away from America. It's worked out beautifully for your profits.
Damn, Corporate America is making out big time on profits now that they don't have to be paying Americans livable wages or dealing with those pesky unions that protect workers from death and other minor work related incidentals. Hey, it's American free enterprise, isn't it? It's the right of capitalism to fuck over the worker rather than make a cut in profits by paying their CEOS salaries a little millions less or something or other to that affect, right? Democracy, free-enterprise, the American right of corporations to make profit and more profit at any cost, especially through the blood draining of the good old (now displaced) American workers.
Americans bitter? The oftentimes undereducated (again, most often not by choice) jobless, slave wage American now clinging to their religions and guns out of fear and in hope of looking for some hope? Oh, no, the American folk aren't bitter!
Senator Obama, who is of a black father but who was raised by a struggling single white mom with the help of her white parents, doesn't know what he's talking about does he? He's never known hardship or prejudice in America. Why hell, prejudice doesn't exist, does it? Or at least we must all pretend it does not exist. Yet the media calls Senator Obama that "privileged elite racist!"
But millionaire most of her life Hillary Clinton and millionaire most of his life John McCain know better, yep, they're much more in touch with the American folk and what their real values are, yep, yep, yep, they know what it is to struggle to make a living and not have enough money to send your kids to collage, (send them to war instead, great paycheck there, right? and they know all about not having enough to pay the bills, right? They know what it's like to loose your home and not get medical care because you can't fucking afford it, right? Yep, Hillary C. and John Mc.--real hard working blue collar folk from the heartland, right? Wrong!
Yet, the media says it is Senator Obama who is an elitist, so, Fox news (Hannity and Colmes mouth-tools for right wing Fox News) keep telling us so and it must be true. It must be true because they keep saying it over and over and over again.
When guys like Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, and Rush Limbaugh and other mouth-tools of bullshit (just to name a very few) tell us that the sky is purple pink and the ocean is polka dot fuchsia, then it must be truth, that's their job to make you believe, the media is their tool and makes it out to be, so real truth is no longer alive and well in America, and if you dare speak it, like Senator Obama dares to do, then, well, you see what happens next? Senator Obama is called an elitist racist and American hating anti-God and hater of white folk! A general all around commie atheist with a black agenda to destroy the American way of lies, hypocrisy and denial!
The general American cable news viewer of Fox News and others like it that buy all the constant bullshit they are fed day in and day out by the LIARS of the media, and the mouthpieces for the lying politicians in America, are brainwashed idiots.
They make me sick and they make me feel bitter towards politics, media and most liars in positions of power. That goes for Left and Right, Red and Blue, etc.-
The rest of America I have no problem with. In fact, I like most everyone else who isn't a political/religious hypocrite or idiot by choice.
But let's get back to what's really interesting...
Titillating polygamy, oooh! Just think all that naughty naughty...forget the real issues...forget everything else going on...forget that people are getting dumber for lack of being able to get a higher education in this country due to the cost of rising tuition, and forget that blue collar workers that made a living wage and belonged to good protective unions are now a thing of Americas past...turned into slogans of disgust by the far right clever morons that managed to convince the majority of the religious but decent people of America to vote for their own destroyers in these past couple of presidential elections.
Ah fuck it! Not worth ranting about...so much stupidity and self-destructive bitter morons still voting. The end is near. America as it once was is dead. If you believe otherwise then you and Alice need to get out of Wonderland and stop listening to lying shark wolves in white rabbit sheep's clothing! (How's that for a visual, heehee? Keep letting them feed your head, America, you're doing great, just look around you, isn't it swell?)
By the way, this is a rant, not a whole lot of super writing, just a lot of free flowing free associative thought and rant and rant, coming out a place of shear frustration and rage after listening to tonight's evening news on cable television.
Now, I am going back to my meditating. Lighting my incense, chanting, praying, and visualizing a more caring free just and joy filled world filled with truth, while re-reading one of my favorite books called "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying " by Sogyal Rinpoche. Much better reading the second time around these 10 or so years later. Also, I think I will watch the late show tonight with Conan O'Brian. Now he makes me laugh. Laughter is what this world needs 400 million more tons of everyday. Soon I will be laughing. Laughing is good.

Fuck all you assholes that have fucked up America, America's jobs, America's schools, America's health care (thanks to HMOs) and thanks for fucking up the American people in general, most of whom haven't even realized yet just how fucked they really are...just a matter of time though, just look around, it's really swell, isn't it. Come on, keep on saying it and thinking it and sloganing it up like the bunch of android TRUE PATRIOTIC Americans who will read this and consider me unpatriotic just for questioning, just for criticizing, just for thinking. Now, back to my meditation. I have much to work on within myself. Much anger to deal with and bring to peace. I work on my own hypocrisy in not always living within my beliefs and dogma/dharma within Tibetan Buddhism. But I am not the only one. I know many others. Yet, I chant and meditate everyday for all the others who suffer...especially those from my generation who still suffer from a time when questioning authority and using common sense was considered normal and not extremist. Thank the gods and powers that be that there are still some Bodhisattva's within the world and many other new generation of good people whose minds still belong to them, and who take the time to question what and where the real truths lie or don't lie.

perhaps not living in America I don’t get the full horror of this, but I get enough to understand what motivates this. I get enough to agree with you… what hope is there when “news” is a celebrity-saturated shit-storm of logos, slogans and corporate anthems? what hope is there when people are groomed for a steady diet of platitudinal quick-fix placebos for their anger and frustration and, dare I say it, “bitterness”? when kids are taught uncritical acceptance based on inherent authority, when escapism is valued higher than truth… yeah, it leaves you wanting to eat your own head in sheer despair… as human beings we’re standing, waist high in a sea of ethical/ intellectual/ spiritual filth and people are more worried about propagating the prurient fantasies of the sex lives of the rich and powerful…

Great rant, as usual, my friend! You do rants the exquisite justice of taking them way beyond their finite meanings, and, rather than push the passion buttons of ranting, you ride the passion as you rant. I love that process! It is so much more satisfying than just mouthing off...
That said, I find particularly appealing the tripartite aspect of this rant: interactiveness of the intellect on a socio-political level, interactiveness of the body on a psycho-sexual level, intra-activeness (made-up word) of the spirit in meditative states. And even more appealing is the roiling, boiling soup of these three components that makes up the essence of this rant. It is highly savoury with truth.
Of course critical thinking is dead! My God, Lena, we live where you wear a helmet/condom/seat belt/bra/don't talk on your cellphone driving/don't smoke anywhere/no clothesline in this borough/etc. society in which the government governs the squares of fuckin' toilet paper we use...We live where most women, me included, would never openly admit to polyandrous fantasies (polyandric?), and thank you for those, BTW...How can we possibly still be capable of critical thinking? But we are, dammit, you are, in all our names, and we all need to profess that periodically, and proclaim it, and own it, before any meditative state can attain its nothingness...

Huh I thought polyandry was a technical name for a gang bang when you got appointments mixed up, just remember like the old “Wooly Pulley” when you stretch it too far it’s fucked… you have to look for an alternative and that could land you up in the shit.
Media I stopped worrying about years back, stopped bothering to read papers and showing too much interest in the news…even to the extent of opening my mail at work and throwing it in the filing tray after a cursory glance (for cheque or money) It wasn’t important enough to have a personal secretary, those started at Brigadier level…. The clerks would duly file it away and if I missed something very important… some-one would let me know in due course…
I do know vaguely what is going on in the world … and for all the correctness Black whoops sorry Barak Obama will not get the very top job because of the same mistake I just made… And God help them with a woman in charge (Just Joking) Sorry Democrats… You shot yourselves in the foot… twice.. and gave the other party a leg up.
Life is a game, I try hard not to get too wound up about… It’s nearly gone just when you are getting started..
I chewed too many real lead soldiers as a kid..then joined the Army… sort of did pretty much what I wanted…though (if brainwashed) probably did exactly what was wanted in retrospect … Had a good time at the taxpayers expense, took my aggression out on the perceived enemy (that probably meant anyone senior to me) backed by the real people I protected (anyone junior to me) It was an easy life… and they still pay me for it…
At least you got round to convincing me why idiots always have a smile on their face… life doesn’t effect them……
So what are my priorities
Food … shelter… love… etc etc

The "idiots" I speak of here are not the ones you ever see smiling. They walk around with a bitter sneer most I've seen anyway...but I suppose you are right in that there are some happy idiots who smile because they are too ignorant to know their isn't anything to smile about? According to Buddhism "Ignorance" is a cause of suffering but some idiots have caught on to the fact that they are in a state of suffering yet...they like they spiritual slavery in this physical Samsara prison we all live in.
But then again, in my spiritual belief system of Tibetan Buddhism, it is taught that one should be happy...so happy equals a smile I guess? The only difference I suppose is that one is a smile of enlightenment verses "ignorance" which in Buddhism teaches is NOT the way to be (ignorant, that is) and the other type of smile is also from a place of detachment from bullshit...and I guess that is my problem...I am still getting too caught up and worked up over all the bullshit which doesn't matter anyway, because it is all illusion and temporary. Argh! It gets too complicated to communicate in just a couple of Lit.Org paragraphs.

Thanks for that super critique. I love your critiques, they always make my writing sound so much more intelligent and deeper (to me anyway)than what it actually is;-)
For example: in my comment to Eric (above) I made 300 mistakes in leaving crucial words out of sentences, changing the entire meaning with my typos and left out words. But, I know that those few left with critical thinking minds (you are number one on my list of the best CRITICAL THINKERS I know) will still be able to figure out what I actually meant to say in my comments to Eric, just like you were able to figure out the more finite intricate subtleties of what my rant was about and yes, yes, how "I RIDE THE RANT" (sounds almost obscene, doesn't it?)

Very loaded rant and well done. Bravo, Bravo. A slight tear in the eye. Moving from Michigan to New York really made my thoughts and feelings towad these "Consumers of Mass Destruction" come to light.
I agree with you fully that America is beyond no return. The death of America will be celebrated in November you years and centuries to come. Living in NY with the Sean Bell Case and the Riots and Protest s everyday high lights this rant. You have to admit a slight bitterness is forming with a rant of such nature and fullness.
I was at the local deli and was witnessing people purchasing beer and cigarettes with food stamps and EBT cards. A disgusting site to watch when you are thinking about how these are the vile humans that winning elections, They buy there beer and cigarettes and watch TV all day while eating there Pizza in the pockets and Banquet microwave meals.

I don't read your stuff half as much as I should and your comments are even more insightful. I channel my anger into writing and feel purged afterwards. I suppose it's the same with you? Feeling angry about the way ordinary decent people are being treated by those in power isn't shameful, it's natural. You see past the shallow trappings of possessions and into the very soul of what should be. We rage against a society that is obssessed with physical appearance and has no time for the spirit of people. I suspect those in power are afraid of what might happen if everybody were to realise that things are unimportant. Gadgets and gimmicks that we are brainwashed into believing are essential to our life are just so much snake oil.
I should have written this as an article heh!
