Repulsive effect
F.R. Toscano

I walk beside Him,
Casting as many shadows as He does but
Mine is a Doppler effect;
His is hubris.

My belief is shallow;
A constant evolving denial,
Where His is a unified theory,
Burdened with free space.
A contradiction, I know, but
What isn’t?

I believe in you, I tell Him.
I do and wish I didn’t.

His reply is always
I don’t care.

couldn’t decide

if this Him was God, or a person poet-self sees as God… at least in comparison to hisself. often felt that way: beautiful people make me feel that way, intelligent people make me feel that way, good people make me feel that way, talented people make me feel that way… anybody, in short, possessing in a greater degree than I do, the qualities I want for myself… which is just about everybody… inferior mortal, I am…

I get- or imagine I do the sick-of-feeling-like-a-pale-simulacrum -to-an-indifferent-super-being feeling. 'specially one who chooses not to recognise their own omnipotence… I've known people like that; amazingly gifted human beings where you'd kill for a fifth of their talent, and they choose to squander their gift on some self-destructive death trip...

Anyway, probably missing the point but far beyond caring. here’s to the art of the subjective, and another stellar write from you.

Repulsive E
Could this a sort of shadow of yourself? Physical to the spiritual, or spiritual to the physical? Or maybe communication between the light and dark sides of you? As I mentioned in myspace is it God related?

What ever your meaning here it's intense thought.
Enjoyed it there and enjoyed it here again.

This is actually 1 of 2 poems I wrote on this recurring theme. I just can't get my mind off the subject. Especially last night...

Anyway, the second poem is titled "Attrative effect" and will probably not be posted here the way I feel lately.

You might find it on frtoscano.livejournal.com in a few days though...

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

PISSING OFF THE WHOLE PLANET
That was my favorite part. Well, you asked for it, you asked me to drop in again from time to time, but as you can see and know from our last email, I am in the best of moods, yet, I am happy...isn't that strange? Crazy, huh? Anyway, I just dropped in to see what condition your condition was in (wasn't that a song from the dirty hippie generation or something I just quoted?)....anyway...I like this piece, Francisco. Keep on writing. One day you will out proliferate Shannon. Don't give up hope.

Repulsive effect
I read things like this, Francisco, and it makes me wonder why you discount your own abilities as a writer sometimes.

This is cleanly crafted, smooth and rife with the tension, confusion and struggle felt by the simultaneously inspired, awestruck and resentful subject.

There's a sense of rushing headlong into something you'd rather be backpedaling from here, and a powerlessness (is that even a word?) to stop it.

I think this is excellent. And I want to see part 2.

Let down
I like this; it is a complete collaspe of faith explained so well.

repulsive, be patient
in turns,
the world revolves...
and sometimes,
the shadow may course around to give you a chase.

thanks Meghan, Brian & Ibukun
A bit late but I wasn't in much of a Lit mood when these comments were left.

Thank you Meghan for the confidence boost. I like backpedaling but don't know that I would back down if confronted by seemingly more powerful. Not in my nature. Part two is at a standstill. Not sure when I'll finish it.

Brian, this is a letdown of sorts. It's my way of telling myself I matter. Thanks for the comment.

Ibukun, I like your short poem. It has a figure eight feeling to it. Infinity on high.

Thanks for reading and I will keep commenting your excellent work but you haven't been on her much lately. Where'd'cha go?
