Although heavily criticized for provocative behaviour in music videos such as: Like A Virgin and Like A Prayer (the church sex scene) and who can forget that kiss she gave to Britney Spears and Christina Aguillera on the MTV Music Awards show a couple years ago, Madonna has indeed made her mark in the music recording industry.

And what a career she has had indeed. Putting out catchy numbers as: Papa don´t Preach, Frozen, and Dress You Up just to name a few, Madonna´s music career has had a wide reach over her twenty plus years in the business. And provocative behaviour aside, Madonna does have others in the business who may look up to her as a sort of role model.

So it was probably no surprise to anyone when Justin Timberlake and Timbaland teamed up on Madonna´s latest catchy number titled: 4 Minutes. And although Mr. Timberlake and Timbaland have impacted the music world with their styles of music, while working with Madonna on this 4 Minutes hit, they must have felt as if they were truly working with one of the greatest pop icons in the world.

For Madonna´s albums do contain the hits. I have not come across one of her albums or cds that does not contain at least one hit. And as far as the Timberlake/Timbaland collaboration goes? Wise choice indeed by all concerned.

Madonna vs Annie Lennox
Haven't heard the new Madonna song. I am not a big fan of hers. Will admit to liking most of her songs but she's always seemed so fake and calculating.

My personal dislike dates back to an interview I read over twenty years ago where she put down Annie Lennox for having to get attention by shocking people. She said something about never having to resort to looking like a man or changing up her image the way Annie Lennox did.

Well...

Madonna has changed her look more than anyone in recent memory. She did the whole androgynous thing years after Annie abandoned it. She titled one of her songs "Who's that girl" years after Annie sang a better song with that title. Madonna even used female impersonators to represent her more famous looks years after Annie Lennox.

Madonna is a great borrower. Very smart and not altogether untalented. A friend once spent hundreds of dollars on a Madonna concert ticket and gave it to me as a present. Turned him down. It was rude of me but I told him to go with someone who wouldn't be miserable during the show.

Maddona seems to have finally accepted Annie Lennox's superior talent by singing on Annie's most recent cd so I forgive her trespasses.

One more sign of her calculating personality: Seems everytime she is about to release a new cd, she leaks rumors of her impending break up with Guy Ritchie. She'll do anything for publicity.

Madonna VS Annie Lennox
Hi Desvelado,

Gees, I was unaware of the Annie Lennox bit, and thanks.

4 Minutes with Madonna..
Hi everyone,

That church sex scene in the first paragraph should read: church kissing scene. Sorry, my mistake.

Ah, Madonna
The conniving, cynically-motivated, self-deluding surgical accident, pop-tart and all round mockney rip-off-merchant. It intrigues me that anyone would want to give her the oxygen of publicity, when there are far more pressing issues and far more deserving musical artists out there. Personally, I would no more call her output “music” than I would call a Happy Meal haute cuisine. She pissed me off in the eighties, she pissed me off in the nineties, and she pisses me off- if this is possible- even more now; the band-wagon-jumping, attention-seeking relentlessly marketed non-event! And, while we’re about it, could somebody please explain to me why a woman who professes to care about the plight of poor kids in Africa would do a multi-million pound advert for Gap? Just type the words “Gap” and “Sweatshop” in to Google and see what comes up. Far as I’m concerned she’s a venal lower life-form, and 4 minutes with her would be too damn long…

and there goes my blood-pressure. thanks Judy ;)
