Eve and the Snake
by Tammy Hendrix
Existence
Anointed awareness takes shape as Eve opens her eyes anew. Graced with witness of all multitudes of grandeur, Eve finds herself synchronized with all that is THE GLORIOUS GARDEN. Her senses inhale a symphony of pleasures as she wonders about the garden explosive with life. Eve was captivated by all she received.
Oh how grand was the open, calm blue sky with pillows of pure white that took solace in the company they kept. Stunning were the shimmering radiant twinkles that praised with. The winds were as a warm loving kiss upon her face and gentle fingers through her hair. The waterfall stretched upward as far as her eyes could see. Green was in great demand. The miraculous growth was so vast, much more than her eyes could fathom.
Statuesque was the mighty oak. Abundant with life and beauty- it stood in a quite empowering way. Bushes, vines and gorgeous soothing cool green grass bedded the land. The wildflowers, in amazing abundance, bedded the great Holy Land, instilling Eve with fulfilling serenity. Their aromas, so spectacular, lulled her pure soul.
The beasts that leaped were enamored with the life and soul sustaining nourishment bestowed. The nourishing fruit was more than could be depleted in any lifetime. And the small that crawled announced boldly proclamations of their inherent right to the abundance.
Of all manner were the Cherubims that anointed the land and the Seraphins-of all grand shapes and sizes- blessed the mighty winds. The chasms that gaped the land produced nurturing water. Crisp, clear, cool water. Eve knelt down, cupped her hands, filling them with the precious, illuminated gift and experienced its glory rush through her entire body. As she lifted up she saw all creatures large and small gravitate towards her. All were welcome and did drink of the Holy Fountain.
Eve, herself, was an upright glorious soul overflowing with curiosity, compassion, understanding and generosity. In all ways Eve graciously rejoiced in all that thrived of the Glorious Garden including herself. Euphoria placed within her an opalescent glow. Being of a meek, fawned, loving, effort full nature Eve embodied all that was good. Her serendipitous presence was in unison with the harmony of all life for Eve was the anointed the Caregiver of the Glorious Garden.
Eve consorted with all heirs of the Garden and held each one in high praise. With no fear of enchainment Eve was content with her life of servitude of all, for she too was loved by those she lavished. Although Eve sensed an all-encompassing presence around and within her, she never felt the desire to question the universal awareness of an omniscient purpose having deemed her The Glorious Caregiver of The Glorious Garden. Simplicity defined Eves presence.
By day Eve consummated, with love, all life in the land and by twilight Eve cherished evensong of omnipresence she did not yet comprehend.
The Glorious Caregiver found great wonder in adoration of the abstract art that was...
The Glorious Garden.
Encounter
Eve comes upon a being like no other seen before in the garden. Its unfamiliar and yet in her virtuous loving nature Eve extends of herself to welcome it. Just as she does with the dear and the lion and the ant and the antelope. Just as she does with the bird and the stallion and all living creatures large and small- Eve nurtures... the serpent! Eve feeds and grooms the snake. In all ways Eve gives praise in love to an heir of the Glorious Garden.
One day when the sun was high and bright and the grass was fresh and green, the trees danced a beautiful waltz with the mighty winds and the wildflowers blessed the air with their contenting aromas- Eve went to the snake, sat upon the cool grass and proceeded to feed it. And behold-the serpent struck her! It gouged into her youth stealing from Eve her inherent grace. The snake, with vicious malice, ripped of Eve's pure flesh causing it to bleed. And it feasted upon her skin and drank of her blood and left her destroyed within.
No longer was the oak mighty nor the grass green. No longer was the stallion noble nor the ant strong. No longer were the birds courageous nor the waterfalls powerful. Even the wildflowers were vacant of their soothing scent. Everywhere Eve searched she saw darkness and despair. Her heart felt the sharpness that struck at her very soul. Eve encountered shame. Suddenly she was aware of all that was not good. The darkness that pervaded her caused her eyes to be pained by all they witnessed. Eve no longer could extend of herself to her world. She could not smell the sweet air that had once loved her lungs so well or feel the growth that once encompassed and danced her soul. Gone were all blessings of her former world. In quiet desperation Eve stood silent as her loving heart was replaced with disgust. Emotions unfamiliar to her had now taken over all that she was. Sadness, anger, rage, disgust, resentment, shame, unworthiness-all that was dark was now Eve. Full of anger she loathed the birds of the air and the mighty oak. She loathed the beasts that leaped and the small that crawled. Eve in great rage trampled the green grass and tore from the earth the wildflowers and brought down the mighty oak. Disease permeated Eve until all that remained were the charred trails of a land that once was. Eve and inherent grace had disunited. Eve was separate and in her oneness she searched adrift through the now swamp of sickness for what she had lost but had no understanding of.
Amidst the rotted fruit, dead grass and fallen oak was something familiar to Eve. Something that had provided her with great pain yet still presented itself with a hypnotic beckoning that drew Eve closer and closer. Filled with evil Eve was utterly unafraid. She recognized the stranger. Eve knew... the serpent.
snake: "Come my child. I am of no harm to you."
eve: "NO HARM! It was you who gouged of my youth, ripped of my pure flesh, feasted of my skin and drank of my blood! But it is you that will now be submissive for I am now the master and you, you contemptuous perversion of an existence, are MY SERVANT!"
snake: "Do with me as you wish but you are mistaken...
eve: "SILENCE!"
Birthed of rage and shame Eve attempts to abuse the serpent until absolute exhaustion overcomes her. And with an expression of satisfaction, the serpent speaks...
snake: As I tried to warn you before, you are mistaken in your resentment of me. Have I not been visible in your garden many a day and have never harmed you before? Is this not so?"
eve: "This is so." spoken curiously of Eve.
snake: "So I am not of fault, my dear. It is that in which you lay your trust and faith ere now that has betrayed you. For I am created just as you are and should this self-proclaimed Grand Creator not wish to cause you harm then why would it create me?"
Eve looked at the snake with great quarrel sharp within her like never before...
snake: " I can see that you are new to truth. I will guide you, my dear. Has not that presence of which you never questioned before caused you great suffering by giving you to me? Well, what he is unaware of is that I, my child, can ease your suffering."
eve: "It is so that I suffer. How? How is it possible for one to be so unholy yet create such grandeur?"
snake: "Oh my dear, out of the mouths of babes. How can one be so unholy- and that is precisely what that in which you have entrusted is. It plays with your soul by bestowing you peace as a stage with which to create a grand presentation of a false reality. That which you enjoy as the Glorious Garden is darkness disguised. This creature takes joy in your suffering and solicits you for this purpose and then rests while watching you wonder through an existence of torture."
Eve feeling deceived and betrayed looses all her strength and plummets to the ground. With her face in her hands Eve begins to sob without restraint...
eve: "How could I allow such a contemptuous entity reside within and receive it blindly. I am false in my beliefs that this is goodness, for it has pained me like no other."
snake: "And was not that very creator that allowed the violation that gouged, ripped, feasted and drank of your very soul leaving it empty..."
eve: "PLEASE I BEG YOU NO MORE! Please stop I am unable to withstand. It is torture in meeeee!"
snake: "Oh, you poor suffering child. Come now. Do not cry. I did not mean to make you sorrowful."
eve: "Do you not see with you own eyes?! It was not you whom has left me in this agony. It was that which has taken advantage of my faith and used it to cause me harm."
With triumph gleaming in the eyes of the serpent he calmly spoke...
snake: "Yes dear, and I would never make you sorrowful. I too am pained and understand your suffering. I only wish for your pain to cease as I do my own. Together , my dear, you and I can stand magnificently against these falsehoods."
eve: "You will welcome me into your home that I may find comfort within?"
snake: "Indeed I will dear. Tell me little one..." the serpent slithered closer navigating Eve's red locks, reaching her ear with a hypnotic whisper ... "...the violations...they set your
misguided comforts ablaze, did they not? Tell me true my dear."
eve: "They did."
snake: " Then come dear I will comfort you and pour water upon the fire in your soul."
Sacrifice
As Eve laid there offering of herself that which she did not hold precious any longer, she felt within her a bitterly consuming entity evicting the very last evidence of fulfillment that once claimed Eve's soul. The once Glorious Lover of what was once the Glorious Garden turned her head, closed her eyes and gave of herself to the siege. Event after event Eve gave of herself in the name of the disease that embodied her. Event after event Eve withered and shriveled away. Her misguided search for a perverted strength and peace led Eve on a path of unworthiness. Indignities Eve did commit upon herself for the sake of such a longing of what she presumed to be lost. Deeper and deeper she did rage into the darkness until all that remained was an inexplicable void. Contemplating the void Eve became aware that all of which she did partake to regain mistaken strength and peace, all indignities she did commit in search of mistaken glory, all things she did beseech and accepted further into her, all the shame, pain, anger, resentment and loathing she in fact encountered when first she knew the serpent. And behold, witnessed is a ray of grace amidst the darkness.
Surrender
Adrift in both direction and purpose, Eve comes upon a small clearing. She perches atop a high place of stone and Glory. Eve fills her lungs, bows her head and cries.
The mighty oak, the waterfall, the wildflowers, that which swims the ocean, the birds of the air and the wind itself, the beasts that leap and the small that crawled, heaven and earth, the stars, the sun and the moon all take true form and the Voice is born...
Voice: "Are you prepared to know with me again? Has your rage left you with no words that you may now heed my presence once more?"
eve: "It is you, the one whom first I felt in all the originality that once glorified the land, is it not?
Voice: "It is my love."
eve: "Oh my friend, my true, true friend please forgive me." Eve cries.
Voice: "Granted but unnecessary for how would you have recognized the clearing if not wondering about the forest first.."
eve: "I am shamed. For my actions have caused great turmoil and the pain is unparalleled by any measure."
Voice: "My covenant has always laid cool cloths upon your wounds."
eve: "You have held court against me and sentenced me my shame."
Voice: "I have held no such court against anyone. I only provide the freedom from which you do as you wish. Just as any good parent would give freedom to grow, so have I with you-in turn giving you the grace to bestow freedoms upon others and so on and so on. But when your choices no longer brings joy to your soul then you interrupt the natural process of love and proceed to hold court within YOURSELF. Then you commence power to God your own world, although inherent you use this power wrongly. Yet if you ever feel of me, then feel of me now for this is absolute truth. PURE JOY CAN ONLY BE FOUND WHEN CONSIDERATION OF ALL I ENCOMPASS IS BOTH MINDED AND SOULED. WHEN FAITHFUL AWARENESS OF ALL I AM IS EXERCISED IN ALL THAT YOU PARTAKE THEN YOU BECOME ME AND I BECOME YOU, AS IT SHOULD BE!"
eve: "Why would you wish for me to be you when you are so holy?"
Voice: "And so are you. Who else would I let tend my greatest creation but my greatest student who is also my greatest teacher?"
eve: "If I am the teacher and the student how can I be you?"
Voice: "Who do you imagine I am? I tell you this; just as you are- so am I and so on and so on..."
eve: "Of what nature is this disease that engulfs me? Who is this serpent?
Voice: " Both the tormented and the tormentor are of my grace."
eve: "How can this be that you would allow this to happen to me? I am true and faithful to you!"
Voice: "When freedom brings you joy then I am good, I am loving. But when that same freedom brings you to a crossroad with that of another who too possess freedom yet CHOOSES to use it to harm you-then I am cursed. I say to you I am not the tormentor. I am only the one whom provides the freedom that gives breath to one who has chosen a different path than yours."
eve: "But why? Why would you breathe the serpent and make its purpose to disease all it crosses?"
Voice: "I made no such purpose. Again, I merely made the entity that took form of the snake."
eve: "Why would any choose such a foul existence?"
Voice: "Be aware that even the snake will repent. Also give consideration to possibilities that all are not what they seem."
eve: "I do not understand."
Voice: "The snake has not always been such. Just as you sicken yourself with the acts that cause you great suffering and shame- so does the serpent."
eve: "But I do not torment others , only myself."
voice: "Is that so?"
Eve sits in silence...
Voice: "Do you not feel that all you have employed to commit the acts you speak of, so to cause you to forget your truth and me and bring shame to yourself, were tortured by you in some way?"
eve: "This of which you forward me is enlightenment and is of truth never considered before. I am humble. But what of shame? If the snake is of your breath just as I am of your breath, how can it not rebuke its acts?"
Voice: "Again, through the evolution of love, the snake will repent. As will all. But in its present state the serpent is as you were, committing acts that cause great harm in an unrealized futile effort to ignore its truth and me. It will continue that condemned behavior until the day comes that the serpent too will feel the relentless pain and shame of the acts committed and then the glorious day will come when the snake will be prepared to receive me just as you do here now. Amen!"
eve: "Then does the snake also live in the swamp of sickness and disease of acts committed upon it?"
Voice: "Just as the serpent is a legion upon your soul- so has another's freedom made itself a legion upon the soul of the snake."
eve: "Then it suffers as well."
Voice: "This is so."
eve: "I am pained by all who suffer."
Voice: "Then you, my love, are on your way home. It gladdens my heart for I have missed you so."
eve: "My righteousness belongs to you always, however, it is difficult to give you my ungodliness."
Voice: "Simplicity is not nor will it ever be difficult lovely one."
eve: "Simplicity?"
Voice: "Commit yourself always to the choice of good, always to what grows righteous in your heart and soul and good acts will inevitably follow. Simplicity."
eve: "This you ask of me is still difficult. Although my soul belongs to you, my heart is encased in this fallible flesh and deceives me. My heart is heavy."
Voice: "My glorious child, relieve from breast into your breast the light of forgiveness and be pained and shamed and full of anger and resentment no longer for these do not allow within you the natural process of which your true conception seeks. Be once more the product of your original truth that you belong to but have denied and then entirely forgotten, hence, giving way to the serpent that claims originality. Yet, this is a falsehood.
eve: "And you will beget me anew?"
Voice: "Of course my love. This is my desire, for I could not hold covenant with you if it were not my wishes for you to return to me. Would that not be the very purpose of the covenant?"
eve: "But why my friend? Why me? Who am I to be of such importance to you who is Godly. Why would you accept my ungodliness?"
Voice: "Are you not yet aware of whom bestowed you the option?! How can I condemn that which I freely give to you?"
eve: "Why, my love, why would I impose such unbearable pain upon myself?"
Voice: "The serpent takes all forms, my child. It will slither into your own hand to strike your face. You impose such malice upon yourself because first, in your misperceptions, you believe it to be of your deserving. Then through growth- although you do not yet understand- it becomes the tunnel by which the light may be seen"
eve: "Why would you give me such opportunity to lay with the snake against your name?"
Voice: "Do not condemn chosen methods of learning. If you do not step into the fire then how are you to know to stay away from the burning flames? This both I and your truth know. Through the option of freedom and the freedom of options you have now learned.
eve: "You do not condemn me for these choices I make?"
Voice: "I condemn no one. As I have expressed before-you condemn you. You either create the serpent or become the God inherent. You then make a higher choice that brings joy to your soul which thereby allows you to continue on your true path peacefully. But always remember, no matter what your choice, I have never and will never condemn you."
eve: "Why?"
Voice: "Because, precious one, I love you! Simplicity!"
Acceptance
As Eve sat upon the high place of stone, meek against the shame, anger and arrogance that once gave motive to malice. She felt within a sweeping rush of cleansing that flooded her lungs, palpitated her heart and glorified her very soul until all that was remnant was the grandeur that resided imprimis. Now shrouded with the covenant of old, Eve transcends anew...
eve: "What is placed in me by you feels of glory, peace and joy. No longer am I misdirected by the falsehoods of grief and shame. You, my friend, out voice the serpent by far."
Voice: "Amen my long lost friend!"
eve: "Amen indeed!"
Voice: "I am the grand Author. You, my love, are my scribe. Glorify to all that which you have learned. Solicit the unbounded ways in which I call out to all. Also, forever hold pure worship in your heart and I will attend....in all-ways. AMEN!"
With boundless love expanding her lungs, heart, soul and rushing her eyes, again Eve opens her eyes anew. Eve witnessed the glorious return of what was once precious to her... the Glorious Garden! Not only was the oak mighty, but its branches had now extended towards the heavens. The land had become majestic. The wildflowers bore a scent of infinite beauty. The beasts that leaped and the small that crawled howled out in song. The birds took courageous flight in praise with the glorious winds. Once more the waterfall did nourish the earth causing it to be fruitful and multiply. The stars held a grand dance upon the wondrous blue sky and the sun and the moon united in its adoration of praise. All in unison took true form and are blessed with infinite joy found again in clarity of the grand purpose to praise the Glorious Creator, whom begot the Glorious Caregiver of the Glorious Garden. With wounds of old now the way by which miraculous healing is anointed- Eve once again feels whole. Once more Eve took contentment in the presence of the inherent grace and beauty bestowed her by all that was good. Eve now recalled what had been, all along, the miraculous harmonyof her life.
