You were the expert
At settling for less
Size sixteen body
In a size fourteen dress
The sampler you stitched
Said to bless this mess

But he never did
He never did

Travelling light
You were steering blind
Moving objects with
Your imperfect mind
Hindsight is just the sight
Comes out of your hind

That’s what you said
That’s what you said.

And tables turn
As well as tides
God is only
Taking sides
You made your bed
You won’t lie still
Never gave in
And you never will.

Heavy as your karma
As strained as mercy
Rougher than justice
Redder than the sea
More pressing questions
Than to be or not to be

Here’s what you said
Here’s what you said

If soul’s reflected
In the eyes
Then you will take
Yourself by surprise
Your spirit is still in it
When everything else dies

That’s true my friend
Thank you my friend

‘Cause tables turn
As well as tides
God is only
Taking sides
We made our bed
We won’t lie still
Never gave in
And we never will.

God is only taking sides
Hey, size doesn't matter! Unless you're Terence and there's nothing for it...

But it's a good thing this one's short 'cos I don't have the patience for complicated tonight. Hope everyone new here on Lit takes note of your writing. Everyone can (and should) learn from you.

Does Caroline mind you telling us her dress size? Think measurements are different on your side of the pond but a lady never likes to tell...

I love reading your Caroline poems because there is so much love in them. You make me want to write a song for my right hand too! Oh, did I just reveal too much?

She's like your G-girl sidekick. You know, G-firl from the movie "My Super Ex Girlfriend." Crapfest of a movie that was...

Caroline
I've never understood people who say one thing and another. Or those who spend their time pointing fingers outward and never be honest with what they in themselves. Fear I suppose. I'm not perfect by far in fact but I try to be as honest as possible. Remember I said I'm not perfect. My finger has ALWAYS pointed at me, even when not warranted, and I've learned something very valuable-I'm the same fallible human being as everyone else.
Sounds like you don't discriminate as well, we made our bed...
There are few people who are aware of this human condition, your one of them.

Nice to meet you,
Tammy

oh no, it's happened
I've been here so long I've become the establishment! ;) thanks Francisco, but I think I serve as a warning more than an example...

I did ask Caroline if I could post this first, so I guess she’s okay with it. she’s a wise and beautiful person, and she knows it too… she also knows I love her curves…

I owe Caroline big time, I’ve needed a lot of looking after lately and she has been a f***ing world class super heroine, like Wonder Woman, Tank Girl and She Hulk combined… that’s a debt of poetry and chocolate cheese cake… a lot of chocolate cheese cake…

thanks for reading this… you know, there’s a recent comment-starved short story floating around somewhere too… oh, God, it starts, I’m such a whore! ;)

Tammy, thank you kindly. life is too short for finger-pointing and name-calling in my humble opinion… I was a long time learning that, and I learnt it the hard way too… but now I know better and I try to practice kindness and patience where possible… I don’t waste my time on folks who can’t be bothered with the same. I think most people here can be bothered, welcome to their ranks, very glad to have you here…

Terence, worthy of what indeed? … I wouldn’t like to speculate, though I’ve formed my own unsavoury opinion on the subject ;) …

I have known a lot of truly sucky people, but they’re mostly far behind me now, eating my metaphorical dust… karma isn’t just for hippies… believe… ;)

Responding to Terence
Sorry to pollute your page, Shannon. But I got a bone to pick with Terence. And not that one!

Dear Sir, I will have you know I have probably had more action than your right hand. Not the drunk poetry groupies you wake up in the back alley with but sober ladies with enough gash to never call me again. Er...I meant enough class.

Have forgotten more names than I am willing to admit to. Heard the song "88 lines about 44 women?" That would be a start...
