was sitting outside a warehouse in Amsterdam
at ready
inside sixty billion in red-sparkled hundred dollar bills
awaited German-Italian collapse
after France acquiesced once again
following October's plot twist
while American's watched their idiot-tv
between erectile dysfunction spot
and Big Brother preview
air force for peace went tactical
just before those sparkly new redbacks began free-flowing over Europe
reality being there was never a prayer rug's chance
a Persian would win survivor
as inner cities burned
under Joint Chief's protection
our glorious leader called for delay of elections

92 words???
92, my friend?
Jeez, for you that's a encyclopedia!
Obviously a lot going on in here and not sure I get everything as I am of limited intellect but I do wonder at this: what is the word "acquised"? Is it the French "acquis" for "acquired"? If so, why not write out "acquis-" in italics and "-ed" in ordinary print?

I saw the changes at Literary Mary and prefer them to this version.

Have to tell you that the word "illusion" is hitting me square in the temporal lobe these days as I just put down The Defense by Vladimir Nabokov...

That said, the word "tactical" is right up there with it. You and Nabokov, tactical illusionists. Heh...

I think a hyphen between idiot and tv is essential, actually, making "idiot" and "tv" connected in a way that is reversible, as in "tv-idiot"

Everything. It's everything that's illusion. With one of my favourite ones being the commercial selling an illusion of a hard-on to an illusory slob sitting there sucking on the illusory pleasure of a beer. I can just imagine it...

Thanks for these illusion choices.

"...a prayer rug's chance": that's unquestionably a "wish I'd written that" bit.

Choosing Your Illusion

Here Goes

The USA slips “Down the Drain”
With banks that start to collapse
Might have guessed this “Mighty Power”
Could never really last
It’s no “Short Term” for in the past
We have seen it all before
The more the poverty is hidden
The rich they know the score...
Foreign markets gaining power
China on the rise...
Just to add… I told you so
About the USA’s Demise

running together
It seems pretty frivolous when it all is run together, doesn't it? It seems like an evening news spot -- put all the day's bad news on screen so we can all feel misery together.

The title tells, and sells it well; choose your illusion. I wonder what kept the Roman empire afloat for so long without American Idol, Survivor, Wife Swap, Big Brother and all the rest to keep them dummed down.
