ARE YOU REALLY FREE ?
What is that little pea ?
Now it's inside of me.
" NOW I OWN YOU MANKIND ".
It's only the size of a grain of sand.
" IT TELLS ME ALL ".
" WHEN YOU COME AND WHEN YOU CALL ".
But now I am not really me.
This seed controls all of me.
" MICRO-CHIP WONDER - I AM NOW YOUR MASTER ".
" I KNOW ALL ABOUT YOU - I OWN YOU ".
What has happen to us all ??????
Maybe man's final downfall.

Chips!
Mankind made micro-chips for sure, and it is mankind who is now employing such technology, often in questionable ways. But humankind, I think, could certainly make use of such technology in more productive ways, were social circumstances to change dramatically. The same goes for atomic science and all the rest of it.

Your poem actually made me think of the film, 'The Stepford Wives'....

If it ever comes
to the point when micro chips are a means of control (don't think it will ever come to that, but you never know), if it ever comes there will be total anarchy and chaos -- I think this poem touches that thought fairly well. We read those words NOW I OWN YOU MANKIND and we may laugh or doubt the seriousness.

I am a borderline conspiracy believer, in many ways, but I do honestly believe that we are all under a huge, or many smaller microscopes, everybody knows our business just because we talk on phones, go online, use debit and credit cards....the information about us all is so widely distributed it is no mystery why identity theft has become an industry.

nice work -- scares me to think of it.

poewhit's chip man
I bought another car, used, a 2006, in June of 2007. In November of 2007, I drove it across the border from Canada to the US (I-87) for the first time. At the border crossing, the customs officer took all my information and then informed me that I was now driving another car.

And I don't have an implanted chip in me. But then, does the customs officer???

In the projected eventual ownership of mankind, I would like to believe that poets will be among the only remaining successfully resistant...It would be good if poets were to own mankind, actually...
