Aloha Skirt

Motion measured in millennia
Cracked open black
In a day

Such were the green billows
I was loveswept to
Plumes on and under blue

When my mother called

Gone so long
Her voice exotic
Spectral aurora
Velvet womb

Told of how the tricolor glass
Pheasant eyes and
All the big or beady pairs

Sold to a kind man
Marveled at the find and
Bought the brain spoon, too
She said

As the connection went dead

No shotgun or scalpel
For thirty years
No drink
To think
In ten

What once was a tadpole
In farm pond weed
Hayseed rolling in
Then a stout pole
Charmed, indeed

Is a tender shoot again

Highly enjoyable read..

As Tony Montana said to Ernie, in SCARFACE, 'keep up the bad work'...

Thank you, Lucie.
The only way I can imagine you talking too much is if it is keeping you from your writing, or other necessary pursuits.

I've never actually been to Hawaii, but know people from there. Many, it seems, have a sort of dual citizenship between Hawaii and California; some having abodes in both. They bring the island sun with them wherever they go, living in "Hawaiian Time."

And I feel a citizenship with the place of my birth and upbringing, even as I go forward into what was unimagined there. It can be a tug between a perception of grounding and one of being held back.

Your words are always welcome.

have words, will travel
here is connected and disconnected, transported and grounded...

spellbound by atmosphere, haunted by silences in between...

"Is a tender shoot again" has reconnected too. gorgeous.

Gee, when I read comments from you or Lucie, I feel as if I dropped something, and you are helping me to pick it up.

Back for more
I had to come back to this one. Really. Your stuff is truly imagisitc, even more than mine. "Velvet womb" - and other brave descriptions and characterizations - impossible to a jaded reader, but so meaningful for people who thirst for new imagery!
