My little Gothic doll
in her purple dress and distressed jeans
Looks like a shadow dancer in a midnight scene
The blue streaks in her black hair
mimic the moonlit glare
Of a serene night in the middle of nowhere
She can hide her eyes as in masquerade
during the brightness of day

Open to the imagination of a young girl,
my little Gothic doll can live in any world
And even though I have phased out of the naїveté
of the elapsed days of child's play,
One day a daughter of mine
will bring my little Gothic doll back to life

Life surprises you! And I'm talking about the good stuff, because a bad surprise is not a surprise at all, it is just shock and horror. All of these good surprises, they are rewards, and the things that happen to remind you that you matter and that you should make yourself faithful so that you can be deserving of all of life's good surprises. Every wonderful surprise in life is a chance to flourish, so grab life by the horns-but don't ride, steer instead: life's horns are life's joystick. You can handle it, because your life's horns are made especially for you. If you don't give up, all of this will hold true and life will continue to surprise you.

Be yourself: even actors cannot truly become their characters.

Reality is stranger than fiction. I make fiction strange like reality as I try to make sense of my reality.

You are most sane when you are at peace with your own mind but the majority of others believe that you are off your rocker.

Give yourself a soubriquet: a soubriquet to swear by and behind which you cannot hide.

One guestion: Aren't you Christian? Gothic and Christian don't quite mesh, do they? One is light, singular and not exactly welcoming of alternative lifestyles. The other is just. As in, nothing.

I was a goth but realized there was nowhere to go from there.

Would this be considered eloquent?

To answer your question, yes, I am a Christian. I went to a high school that is extremely culturally diverse-lots of Goths, atheists, homosexuals, foreigners, and odd people in general-in addition to the Christian population. The doll that inspired this poem is technically a Halloween doll, but it looks like it walked right out of a Hot Topic store. I suppose that it was the purple dress that enchanted me when I bought it so long ago.
