I should take love more lightly
not be overly shaken
by the internal workings
of a decrepit mind

Despair less.
Let things curdle in their own
miserable grimy lil pots. For once
stop poring and whoring
over things and pieces

I should take love more lightly
be less the cantankerous cig-smoking
tragedienne that I am...

I am often
told I need to “despair less”… au contraire, I find myself thinking, if anything it is you who need to despair more… life lends itself so well to being a “cantankerous cig-smoking tragedienne”- which is a stellar line- that anything else would just feel dishonest… stoicism is overrated, I reckon, and very rarely produces interesting people and or poetry ;)

I loved the wryness of this. need I say I related?

Dont do it........

Sounds like you are considering falling for one of the million excuses men use to get your panties down...... before they move on!

Of course any women knows that a lot of men will "Hang Around" untill such time they have sampled the goods before they tell you they are not the marrying kind....

On the other hand it appears women seem more likely now to do all the chasing....

Whats Love got to do with it ????? (Tina Turner)

You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it's only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposittes attract
It's physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that

What's love got to do, got to do with it
What's love but a second hand emotion
What's love got to do, got to do with it
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken

Tragedienne
Well, if you're in the Los Angeles area, I am looking for a tragedienne cig smoker. All tragediennes are welcomed! Just don't blow the smoke in my face and I won't blow it up your A.

Think Eric just showed us his true colors: Broadway star. Never known anyone to break out in song in the middle of posting a comment!

Anyway, on to serious matters. I read this last night but didn't comment because it seemed a wee bit personal. But then I thought to me-self, "Self, this poem was posted because she wanted to share it." And now here I am again.

I don't think there is anything wrong with falling head over heels. If you feel it and there is no violence involved, then go for it.

This poem sounds like a mantra: Tell yourself enough times what you shouldn't be and it shall be. But I ramble...

Liked it, by the way.

Nonchalant
Your poetry is always a treat to read. Always so well written, and your writing style is certainly, seemingly anyway, very nonchalant - as if it all comes to you so easily, naturally, without a care. Looking forward to more of your work. Blessings;-)

Thanks ye' all
for the very kind comments. Shannon wow...ur the first one who tells me to despair more...but i seem to be particularly good at being a "cig-smoking booze-guzzling tragedienne" lately...well you do have a point there...Eric..yeah thats what men and women want these days...but mind ya am not falling for that fair bit...i guess ive evolved into some kind of bore...hehehe...i love the song and adore Tina Turner as well especially when im feeling mighty sensitive... Desvelado well if i do happen to go to the states next year...i just might smoke a stick with you...Karma your kind comments make me wanna believe there is more to my ramblings than pure selfish drama...well guys thanks and you have a great day wherever you might be...ciao
