(This work of literary genius is dedicated to two fellow frustration and raging at the world types Lena and Shannon)

Deleuze and Guattari
are going to haunt me
with their micro-fascisms
and 'white-man' faceisms

Will I ever be free
of Woolf or will she
always be in a room of her own
in the back of my mind?

Lawrence is still lurking
he named a character Birkin
even my name won't let me be

------
In five hundred years time, most of us will be forgotten dust. But Hitler will still be remembered, God loves irony.

If ignorance is bliss..
..which after reading this staggering work of genius I'm most certain it is, then I am flippin' ecstatic!

The Haunting
aww, thats the first time anyone's dedicated anything to me... I feel proper pleased with myself now. made me laugh, did this, and inspired me to scribble down the following:

There at the back of mind
Eviction notice pending
Marcuse twiddles his thumbs
Waits for history’s ending

Burning her torch for Sartre
de Beauvoir spins out her days
Or cavorts with Angela Carter
Round in my mind’s Sadeian maze

Bloody Perkins Gilman
Clawing the walls at the back, with
A coven of blood-sucking Brontes
Cuts me poor auld brain no slack

Wittgenstein, aiming his poker
Deftly at Karl Popper’s head
Narrowly misses poor Hegel
Braining Karl Marx instead

Derrida is digging his heels in
Using superior muscle
To deconstruct the shit out of Heidegger
In a barroom metaphysical tussle

I notice it’s come to fisticuffs
Between Jung and Freud
Althusser is whispering with Butler
In a manner most paranoid

It’s all got too damn crowded
So I’ve hit upon the idea
I’m going to drown the bastards out
Using NyQuil, vodka and beer!

wow, two works of genius in one day, such savvy the lit.org milieu has, eh? ;)

I'm FLOORED by this, Paul (the Ogg)..................!
It is genius, do not mock it, dear sir! Wow, I am floored by its coolness!

To answer the poem's question about Virginia, yes, indeed she will always be there, it is impossible to be rid of her, unless you give up reading and writing all together, and even then I doubt it is possible. In my own case she has been so stamped to my forehead from my bout with Women's Studies/feminist classes galore, that it is impossible to not see here every time I dare to look too long in the mirror.

This is an awesome piece, and I love it, especially, like Shannon has already said, being dedicated to me leaves me feeling; "properly pleased! Yahoo!

And, Shannon's own poem here...drowning them out with Nyquil and beer? Too funny! Yes, what savvy the lit.org milieu has indeed! (hehehe)

I like small rooms
I like the line/image about Wolfe, sitting in a room of her own (and I would think it to be a small room) in the back of your mind. Not to imply a small mind...but that is a great line that explains these constant things I always carry around -- these droning thoughts.

My mind's rooms are not only small, but have very squeaky floor boards.

Nice job

Haunted
Sorry late in. Great ride. I married 'Virginia' once and left being clearer about what I didn't like. I suppose all those historic 'great' thinkers and characters are there to have us be responsible for our own thinking and world veiw.
Really -I think that ;)
In spite of Hollywood's stupid pandering - Che was a not so bright genocidal maniac (having known families who suffered his brand of 'right') - oh oh - I can hear marxist feathers ruffling. Was Mien Kampf really poignant? Sad that such a part of being educated is to have all the nonsense floating around in your head. sorry mr cummings i love your poetry but it is hard to read :)
Anyway rambling aside - great poem. Thanks
Ken
