I saw light at the end
of this green mile, so I walked this
daunting road with
much hope.

I also saw the electric chair
waiting. Get yourself electrocuted
first, than I let you go to the light,
a voice in my head sneered.

I'm tired, I'm tired, I heard my
dry lips mumble. Let go of me,
let go of me, I heard my heart
shout in a vacuum.

Yet I still breathe. One inhale
at a time. One exhale at a time.
Yet I still blink, both eyes closed
one instant and opened thereafter.

If I hold my breath, if I close my eyes,
will it help me forget?

Will it help me sail through
this green mile and the electric chair
till the day I reach the light?

Green mile
It's much simpler than that. It refers to the days I went through before my divorce.

And yes, the green mile and electric chair metaphores were taken from the movie.
