a candle burns to watch her sleep
with a gentle flickering sigh,
as wax melts down the candle's face
to mourn the hours dry

so too does the poor bloke weep
who can never sleep by her side,
a sadness burns to even think
of the dreams her slumbers hide

"a sadness burns to even think/ of the dreams her slumbers hide" is a superbly turned phrase... eloquent and evocative in its expression of sorrow... succinct and well-put poem. enjoyed.
