Fragments transcendent so on eternally
Blessed is the masses infinite blood show
The Mosaic-Men must struggle to be

The roseate lover says passion must be
Like breath to the body, the spirit should flow
Fragments transcendent so on eternally

Where conscience hides the blind claim to see
So struggle so lose to breathe is in woe
The Mosaic-Men must struggle to be

Nothing so certain as faith uncertainty
Assumption and wisdom together do sow
Fragments transcendent so on eternally

This world was not made for men like me
Where Ares and Christ sleep head-to-toe
The Mosaic-Men must struggle to be

The Ancient Idea lay waste in debris
Yet up from the ashes the act does still grow
Fragments transcendent so on eternally
The Mosaic-Men must struggle to be

I think transcendent is probably one of my least favourite words in the poetic canon- being too often and too carelessly used- that said, some bits of this I really enjoyed… Mostly “Where Ares and Christ sleep head-to-toe”… actually, that stanza in its entirety… on the whole, some intriguing and tantalising suggestions, but left me unsatisfied, for some reason… could just be the mood I’m in. well return….
