Dark cloud; the roll of distant thunder
Halts my thoughts from drifting wonder

A heavy blanket snuffs the light of day
Covering me up; calling me to slumber

A gentle wind soon to blow
Ruffling the leaves to let me know

A rhythm begins to pound
While the rain drops all around

Nature has whispered for me to sleep
From the patter of its rhythmic beat

Many a drop tapping the pane
Lulling me to sleep in this steady rain

Soon I hear not this natural wonder
For I am gone deep, deep in my slumber
