The vision of a black shadow,
continues to clutter my perception.

It continues to haunt me
bewilder me
Consume
whilst concealing its reason

It is not a metaphorical shadow, no,
It is a not a shadow of literary purpose.

It is not a shadow of death,
of enlightment,
of hope.

Rather it is,
something I cannot explain,
nor place
my bitter judgement upon.

Yet the drifting,
shapeless figure,
black as a burried coffin,
deep in the artic region,

merely wanders,
without instinct or thought.

It has no direction,
no sense of communcation,
no distractions,
to infiltrate.

It is without attatchments,
without curiosity,
of another world.

You see,
I am the only world it knows,
I am its only,
aspect of life.

Oh and how ironic it is,
when I begin to realize,
how comforting,
this worthless,
shapless,
shadow,
has truly become.

Shadows without reason
I truely enjoyed this. My favorite is the last stanza. Thanks for sharing.

Shadow without reason
a complex, contemplative poem, and boy can I ever identify with that last stanza... though I think we probably all can, at one time or another... some very poetically pleasing lines here. stanzas six and ten, especially, for me. thank you for this unsparing, introspective piece.
