Mentally strong
but emotionally fragile.
My heart has been broken
so many times
that I am now
swimming in the shards.
Sticking out my face
are the jagged reminders
of my perpetual disposition.

Attempting to gather the pieces
results in a clenched
fistful of broken glass,
fire dripping
from the ripping flesh.

Is it worth the reconstruction?
Sometimes it's easier to shed blood than tears.
-even though they are both one and the same

------
If it can be destroyed, it SHOULD be.

Sea of Shards
the language in this didn't grab me, (other than the title, which has an intense magnetic power) but the images were vivid and compellingly raw... thanks especially for the dripping fire.

Sea of Shards
You're welcome. I guess the way I word things can take away from the essence of something sometimes but I tend to be more cryptic.
Thank you for the comment. Sorry I took so long to reply, I've just been really discouraged lately.
If you have time, check out my new submission "Solar Set."
Thanks again.
Glad you enjoyed reading.
