I have decided that my participation at Lit.Org has passed the point of diminishing returns, and that it is no longer practical for me to publish my writings here.

Primarily, I valued this site because of its capacity to provide informed critique of my work and my ideas, and I have seen that my readers, while growing quickly, are not making any critique whatsoever. The reasons for this I do not know for certain, but this essentially negates the value of my participation on this site, for myself.

Second, I believe it is time to fully concentrate on getting published, which means writing the stuff that GETS published. For a variety of reasons including the above, I believe Lit.Org is no longer useful to me in this regard, and I should move on.

This does not mean at all that I will _never_ submit anything here again, and I shall certainly announce publications of my work - should such fortune occur - but since the usership of the site is not interested in commenting on my work I don't think Lit.Org can any longer help me to improve it.

This is not a reflection on Lit.Org, which cannot and does not control the participation of its usership! It is also not a condemnation of the usership nor even a criticism, but simply a practical explanation of why I am going to change venues for my output.

Thank you all for your insights and your friendship, and I shall certainly leave my material online here for future perusal. Feel free to contact me should you desire to do so.

Yours truly,

The Alienist (JH Furnish)

Farewell
I'll join Bob in wishing you happy trails. I always enjoyed your contributions to the site, and I'll surely miss them.

We're losing so many people! Is it part of a natural ebb and flow? I don't know. I know we lost a large number of writers during one particularly difficult period, and many haven't come back. Perhaps we need to think about how to attract new folks.

I'm one of those who has been inactive recently, as I've become overloaded with work and underloaded with creativity (I have another book contract, but it's for a teaching book. Sigh.). I pop in sometimes to read, but rarely comment.

Many thanks to you for sharing your talents with us, and I hope you come back now and then to say hi and let us know what you're up to, maybe write a little something.

And while I'm at it, thanks to those of you who are still keeping the site gointg by commenting, etc!

I can't help but say this.
Thanks to my colleagues above for the send-offs, but as a former english teacher I can't stop myself from telling this schindees person that he needs to get serious about actually LEARNING TO WRITE with REAL GRAMMAR and REAL PUNCTUATION. If you like writing, WRITE, not SCRIBBLE. This is offensive. I don't need that kind of love, as they say. It's like hovering over my body at a funeral and someone comes up to my casket and farts while they shake my dead hand. Ugh.

No more of those, please.

But again, rcallaci and viper9, thank you for your thoughts. I won't forget to peep in from time to time.

Make sure my work isn't deleted, will you? Thanks.

Good bye, alienist
I shall not be enough of a hypocrite to say I consider you a friend, but I have read a lot of your writings with much interest. You certainly have a lot on your mind and very often write in a serious and interesting way.

The problem with lit.org is sometimes that people don't say their true meaning about other writing. It's easier to not comment than to tell someone what piece of crap you think their last poem was..

Anyway good luck in getting your work published.

I have always enjoyed your perspective on things and appreciate why you are withdrawing from the site. I feel this site has been an excellent one due to the layout and variety of people that used to frequent it, but for various reasons most now spend litle time here.

The flavour of the site has changed and while I feel guilty about being one of those who lead to it's lessening attraction by my absense, I too am busy editing and posting work elsewhere towards the day when I publish my meagre poetry!

I will, however, always think as Lit as my birthplace into worldwide virtual world and would love all the members who have bonded so well over the years to find a common place to continue our exchanges.

Maybe one hosted by an English Teacher....
