a girl is beating, beating, beating
she is also breathing
all to the beat of the city
under her veins
and her skin
like spray paint, the grafiti
of body
urban wildlife, all feral and knowing

a girl is wildcrafting my mind
foxglove and mullien
flowers to eat and morning glory seeds
things older than civilization
older than her or i

this girl is a garden that's overgrown
ideas and love and empowerment
like vines covering fences
and borders
this girl is my heart
beating, beating, beating.

someday could be today...

loved this! for me the crux of the poem is in "all feral and knowing" - a spirit wise, but irrepressible, that exists, persists untamed against all odds. gorgeous, this.
