T'was the day after New Year's
And all through the house
Came the sound of snoring
From my partied-out spouse
So I in my nightgown
Went to the closet to dress
When I looked in the mirror
BOY, I sure was a mess!

I pulled out a jacket
Tried it on in disgust
I've got to start dieting
It's really a MUST!"
These pants are too tight
But they fit yesterday
I REALLY must diet, starting today!

As the coffee was perking,
I grabbed a sweet roll
Then put a dollop of butter
On the last donut hole
"I REALLY MUST DIET,"I kept telling myself
Then I noticed leftover cookies
All alone on the shelf!

OK, TOMORROW I'll start
I mean it, you'll see
Unless company comes over
Bringing goodies for me
I guess I'll wait till NEXT MONTH,
When temptation is gone
And besides, there are plenty of clothes
I haven't tried on!!

Bea's NYR
Big Bea is bouncy
and bulging and round.
From all of the cookies
in her cupboard she found.
She promised to diet
and vowed to get thin
As soon as she'd emptied
her last cookie bin.
Her clothes wouldn't fit her
they seemed much too tight.
I guess that she'll have to
wear clothes that are right
to fit her full figure
with a little to spare
For future adventures
in culenary care
who cares what folk see you
and think you quite plump
A camels no camel
without it's hugh hump.
A mouth is for eating
but talking as well
Take note what's important
when casting life's spell
And enjoy what your doing
for there is no doubt
It's not what goes in there
but just what comes out!

What you see is what you get!
Ivor, survivor,
What can I say
About that ludicrous picture
That you've sent my way
It's almost enough
To make me want to pig out
But I don't want to suffer
All night with the gout
In truth I'm not at all
What I seem
I was just fishing
For a poetic theme
I'm really average,
Neither fat nor thin
(You wouldn't mistake me
For a mannequin.)
The years have been kinder
That I thought they would be
My teeth are my own
Likewise my hair
My eyes are green
My complexion fair
I've never tried Botox
Nor had a tummy tuck
I couldn't afford them
(Just my luck!)
No pretense here
I am no threat
And what you see
Is what you get!

I made a resolution to not make anymore resolutions, but I really enjoyed reading yours.

Happy New Year!
