Seeking Relief

I might've dodged
a bullet today
The shit is coming closer
and the world is getting colder
Time's getting shorter
and I'm getting older
America is ready to die
I'm ready to admit -
so am I

Calling in sick
does a teacher good
The battle's right outside now
and I'm hearing small-arms fire
Life's getting cheaper
and so's ammunition
The Nation is convulsing in death
I'm ready to escape
with my life

I may evade
the Reaper today
but Death is always closer
with the beating of my heart
Life's getting shorter
and I'm getting antsy
America's going to die
and I'm on the move
to the woods

What kind of Armageddon will it be?
The destruction or enslavement
of the world
both look the very same
to me

and to the woods I go

(Apologies to everyone who read this before - even though I correctly posted the above poem, someone in the staff chose to reprint a portion of a poem I posted a couple of years ago. I don't know why they decided to do that. This is the correct poem. Thanks, The Alienist)

Visceral this, raw and brutal and brilliant. Makes an impact and leaves a mark. Very well executed. great stuff.

Armageddon?
Alienist,

i have not seen this before and do not know when you posted it, but it is cetainly relevant today.

This hits harder because I know it is from a teacher...

The message it contains I can relate to, even though I personally tend to show a face of fun, this is a survival method and you express the real concerns that we all hold... not just in America.
